Oh my goodness. Duck is absolutely precious, he instantly wants to gently protect the little ones from Weave. We saw it with Howie now Schteeve. Duck is such a sweetheart and he and Schteeve are already the best of friends. Weave and Howie are so similar in behaviour towards new additions. Stranger danger. She's still cautious from her last encounter with coyotes. It's understandable her apprehension with meeting a new dog so soon but once she realizes he won't hurt her she will be fine. Poor Duck is on the receiving end of her anxiety for now

Very interesting to see Duck get between Steve and Weave in the beginning. Looks like everyone is going to adjust nicely to each other. Weave continues to amaze me as to how tolerant she is of domestic pets of all types. Especially as she's been running with wild coyotes. I hope Weave gave the coyote that bit her rear leg a good ass whupping. Have you been able to see if her rear leg has any infection or just a minor flesh wound? Hopefully she'll stay around until it's fully healed.

Schteeeve is a very sweet, mild, sedate little fella. I imagine most puppies would bark, jump around, get over-simulated (personal experience, much?). Only mine were all dogs. If I had a cat, a dog, and a coyote 🐺, we'd have had more chaos than a Looney Toons cartoon.

When I lived at home we took in a stray white dog that appeared to be a small German shepherd mix. The vet said she was part coyote and warned us she could be dangerous. She was a shy little thing but eventually made friends with our St. Bernard. Well, she ended up having 6 puppies and they were the cutest puppies ever. About a month later, momma took off and we didn't know what happened to her until one night we caught sight of her running wild with a pack of coyotes near our property. We took care of her pups and gave them to friends to adopt.
