Coyotes on a Hot Summer Morning

Coyote wakes up on a hot Hollywood, California morning, runs some coyote errands, visits another coyote, and then curls up in the shade.
This is an area I frequently hike and do bird-watching so I cross paths with these coyotes pretty often (they are used to seeing other hikers too).

We don't get coyotes here,and they're fascinating to see;your close-ups showing so well the obvious relationship with the wolf..you caught that run across perfectly while its mate keeps watch,those lovely ears alert..and after all that effort what better thing is there to do than listen to some dub,watch the world go by before closing those beautiful eyes and slipping into dreamland.There are some things definitely worth bumping into I agree,that walk wouldn't be the same without seeing the locals.Super.

Such a beautiful animal. Wow you can get so close to them. Around here they run off and are never close by. I hear them often at night. Great video super clear video. I enjoyed very much have a great day.

Beautiful clip! They must **really** be used to seeing & being around people, 'cuz they let you get so close. They usually keep their distance. Thanks for sharing this.

This area is near a larger park area where people picnic down below so the coyotes are definitely familiar with people, probably more so than in most areas. Similar to the bears in Yellowstone they have learned to roam picnic areas and there are always people who think it is cute or helpful to feed them (it isn't!). These coyotes have seen me often and are pretty indifferent so long as I keep a comfortable distance. I have encountered coyotes in more remote areas and they are more shy.

Awesome I usually only see them in the evening or at dawn and they seem to be more active in the winter and spring down here in Florida I only saw one out in the daytime on my hiking trips

They seem to have moved on from my patch of suburbia for now. Last year, whenever a fire truck running the siren would come down the nearby county road at night, coyotes would erupt into howls all over the subdivision.

It looks like the same area where you have filmed the deer. Are coyote dangerous for deer? Greetings Manfred

Hi Manfred, yes it is the same area. The deer are cautious and aware of the coyotes, but I have seen the coyotes nearby the deer and they show no interest. I have seen that in other areas too where I see the same coyotes and same deer in the same area over a long period of time. Coyotes do eat deer though. Maybe in this area the deer are not their first choice. I would not be able to watch that or let the coyotes harm the deer while I was there though.
