He makes it look so effortless! Nobody else can ever play this intro like he did. Love Cozy Powell.

How about this japanese kid at 3:50 who plays exactly the same. There's nothing amazingly difficult on that intro: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a5eBmrSKrr2Rp40.html

@@micowikstrom7182 The Japanese kid is very good. There are many kids on youtube mimicking the greats. Coming up with these original sounds in the first place is the hard part, mimicking them is the easy bit! Lots of kids can play Eruption, but non of them can come up with something original.

Bonham copied too. All musicians are inspired by those that went before them. Cozy always sounded better in my opinion. @@einarabelc5

It isn’t about how “hard,” or technical, the piece is to play. Does the intro fit with the song? Was it something original for that particular time? How is the delivery? Does it inspire? Cozy Powell checks all those boxes and delivered them with amazing power and feeling that came to inspire generations of future drummers. Sure, it’s cute to watch KZfaq videos of an 8yo kid replicating a drum track. - But those videos are nothing more than a compliment and a testament to the greatness of the artists’ work, who continue to inspire all these years later.

19/01/85 - amazing and memorable day. I lived in Rio and was at the first (and best) Rock in Rio ever, prancing around backstage, having been taken by Ronnie Biggs and left on my own, obviously, as I was a nobody in that kind of realm. I happened upon the set of 3 "revolving drumkit" festival setup, a great novelty back then (at least in Brazil) and was looking interestedly at the kit I assumed to be Cozy Powell's ("I played drums in a band back then, you see", as Ronnie Corbett would say in the chair) and in walk Mssrs R. Biggs and C. Powell, with Ron saying "go on 'en, 'ave go, mate" and I in "mock Englishmanism" said I'd better ask the owner! The owner said "yeah, go on, go on" and I took the opportunity to satisfy a curiosity about the tom-tom-bass-bass roll on Stargazer, which he showed me, which I then dutifully repeated. Still got the pair of sticks from that day. Unfortunately, no cellphone pictures, so the "paper picture" is still (possibly) flying round the Ether. RIP, Ronald Arthur Biggs and Colin Powell.

. . . Nelson do Brasil !!!

Dieses Intro und viele mehr erzeugten auch bei mir den „Wow“ Effekt! Toll, dass es Videos wie dieses hier gibt, damit bleiben zumindest die Werke der Künstler und ihre Erscheinung unsterblich! Danke

not that hard folks. Instead of a triplet he does a quadruple. What Ian Paice does at the beginning of Pictures of Home is a triplet. I actually think Paice's intro is a little more difficult to pull off. Also, listen to the end of Purple's Flight of The Rat. Paice was a master at triplets. Easy on the hate fellas, Cozy is one of my favorite hard rock drummers.
