The Mystique - Blob interaction is intended, if the last card played has an ongoing effect, she copies the entire text of the card, not just the ongoing effect, she used to do that but they changed it intentionnally in a previous patch, same for Rogue (she also copies ongoing effect). So I don't think they're gonna change that.

Ajax shoulda been on reveal like Gilgamesh. That way you can afflict your own cards to boost him but still Cage to get your power back

How about Ghost for Ajax? A lot of people are going to save Luke Cage for turn 6 to avoid your Enchantress/Rogue/Red Guardian, so playing last can help you snipe Cage, if you are good at predicting your opponent moves

The thing with Mystique is that it is working as intended, but I don't think they had Arishem in the works and thought about the Blob interaction when they made the Mystique change. At the time in the Dev notes they specifically mentioned that she would also take cards like Electro's and the Soul Stone's on reveal abilities.

There are very few KZfaqrs that I think couldn't harm a fly and will never get into drama; these are definitely two of them.

I think running an afflict ongoing deck with cosmo to protect Ajax and echo to guard for Luke cage could be good

Honestly would try Echo with Ajax. Restricts the Luke Cage to two lanes or they forget the card is there and take care of it for you

Every card on your side with negative power buffs Ajax by 1... but is also taking power off your side of the board. It's either a wash, or worse if you hit more than -1. There's no value there unless they make him lower base +2. I don't see anyone playing affliction on their own side. It... negates... itself.

Two things regarding Ajax. First, there are three other ongoing big boys in snap - Darkhawk, Devil Dino, and Ronan. None of them were that meta relevant until Arishem started to artificially prop up Darkhawk, and all of them require arguably less support to work. I think it bodes poorly for Ajax that he is the most vulnerable to counter play out of the four of them and needs an entire deck built around him. Second, Luke Cage doesn't just turn off Ajax - he turns off his entire deck as well. At least the first week I think negative anything is going to be unplayable, until Ajax kind of settles into a 6/10 fringey meta presence.

What I dont understand is how no one is talking about how his interaction with negative power on your side of the board isn't really a benefit. You're still losing power in those cards, so at most you are coming out even and consolidating that lost power in one lane. If your cards are more than just -1, you're coming out at a loss. You have to win 2 lanes in this game and that negative power will hurt in my opinion.

That Supergiant Mystique Hazmat was something I'm thinking of as well. But because Mystique wouldn't be tall enough, I'm thinking to add Mockingbird to be played alongside Ajax on final turn. Though certainly on T1-3 we have to play out a lot of token cards.

All the other content creators are saying don't roll for Ajax. You guys are right, we won't know the full power until cassandra nova is out. Turn 2 scorpion gets the whole hand, Turn 3 cassandra gets the rest. I'm betting on cassandra and rolling for this card. Oh and last point: everyone is only counting how tall Ajax can get. They aren't counting how low every other afflicted card gets when you run a full afflict deck. This honestly feels like a 'cannonball' week where people will eventually regret not picking him up.

Would it ever make sense to make Luke Cages text “The adjacent locations cards can’t have their power reduced”? Makes his play more predictable for Echo/Rogue/Enchantress/Red Guardian, but still shields more than just his own location like they tried a couple months ago.

. Please upvote this! Arishem is hyper fun to play. And it's played so masively because it's good for players with small collection level, allowing anyone to play with ALL the cards. Yes. It warps de meta alittle too much around him. But a soft rework could do. There's no need to kill cards. And it should always remain a competitive option if not consistently top tier. Just change it's ability to remove some cards from the deck either before or after adding some random ones. Doing it before would work as a nerf while doing it after would simply lessen it's effect on the metagame being centered around few key cards like Darkhawk and Blob. Examples: "At the start of the game, +1 Max Energy. Replace 5 cards of your deck with ramdom cards." "At the start of the game, +1 Max Energy. Replace X cards of your deck with Y ramdom cards." "At the start of the game add X random cards into your deck. At the start of each turn, +1 Energy and remove the top card " Just my humble contribution.

I really wish cards generated by arishem kept the style of your variant. Every other form of card generation does this (such as Coulson, Fury, and Loki) so it’s just weird that half the cards in every Arishem deck are always the lowest upgrade quality

So I'm not sure that Cage will actually be a shut off to Ajax. It just says they need to be afflicted with Negative Power, not that it has to be active. I mean, if you shut off Cage, the negative power is still there. So it'll be interesting to see if Ajax doesn't care that Cage exists. Think about High Evo Abomination. Even if Luke is on the board, if you previously afflicted cards with Negative Power (Hazmat, Cyclops, Scorpion), he still costs less even if the their power level is reading as normal.

Honestly I'm thinking wicken will be pretty good, could see a deck that has quicksilver and domino, then a few 3 drops then wicken. Maybe a silver surfer type win con but idk

Im getting Ajax simply because hes basically a key piece of a new(ish) deck archtype and i like having as many deck options as i can (except Cerebro, i never play Cerebro just becauae it's just not a deck for me personally)

11:13 for my spectrum deck I'm going to try and run Gilgamesh as a turn 6 Alt to Spectrum. If you don't get the Spectrum you have Ajax in one lane, all the negative power, and you slam Gilgamesh in another. I'm gonna try and stay away from High Evolutionary the first week just to be different because affliction can have a lot of different builds.

You guys are forgetting about spectrum. If you can't apply negative power with the Wong, due to Luke Cage or something you always have the ability to apply positive power to your team.. I have a Odin, spectrum, hazmat deck that Ajax is going to fit into perfectly.

Ajax+Mystique could definitely good and interesting deck to play with, but not replace classic Devil-Dino+Mystique or current meta Dark Hawk+Mystique.

Why is everyone talking about Ajax's ceiling being 30 Power??? In order to get that high you also have to lose Power on your own cards! It becomes an even trade for your own cards! Your card gets -1 Power for Ajax to get +1 Power; -1 + 1 = 0!!! His real ceiling is 19 Power. Still good, but not as busted as so many people are touting.

Since the text says "for every Card", does itself count aswell? E.g. you`ve ajax & typhoid (Ajax gets -1 from typhoid, therefore +1 and it evens out?) thanks for another great podcast tho!

Where is Ebony Blade at on the list? Black Knight is still rarely played but if you set up a big blade, the deck rarely loses.

I would save Ajax for turn 5, minimize the chance of counter by playing him later. It'll block out Enchantress and Shang Chi, at least. Only really worry about Luke Cage.

Rouge will be better at countering LC than Red G. All the opponent has to do is play LC next to their 1 or 2 power card and they have a RG sponge to protect LC. Rouge at least has a chance if there's multiple ongoing cards at a location.

Ajax is a hard pass. There are better stat stick 5 drops alresdy and the conditions are stricter and are countered with one card. The fact they buffed the base damage so late proves the card was underperforming.

Yes Luke Cage counters Ajax for half, but Rogue and Enchantress are kinda meta atm with all the Darkhawks so I dont see Luke being that big of a problem.

Ajax is to Gilgamesh what Ronin is to Devil Dino. There is so much less activators for him and is much more counterable. And Gilgamesh isn't even that good.

8:27 Consider going Rogue over Enchantress. I know you want to Afflict your side and do all this crazy stuff to boost Ajax power. But if they throw Luke Cage into the Ajax lane and all you have is Enchantress you're screwed. I think Rogue + Red Guardian is the superior way to go.
