Yeah, probably being scrapped. No sign they are going to be rebuilt.

@@jefftoft5568the word CP is painted on the side of the units tho. So there could be a possibility that it’s leased to CPKC

⁠⁠@@jefftoft5568I wouldn’t be so sure. CP likes their rebuilds and I could see them buying more of UP’s castoffs and sending them through. The 710G engine is a solid performer, the electrical bugs are gone, the HTCII is a success compared to GE’s truck and thanks to sitting in storage for stretches of time these macs have still got a lot of miles in them. And why on earth would a railroad buy locomotives to scrap them?

Can 113% confirm they’re going to be scrapped. CP bought them for parts. They’re going south to a dealer that will strip the usable parts, and the hulls will be scrapped. This has been going on since February.

I thought UP side lined the SD90MAC because they had cracks in the frames. Not really suitable for rebuilding.

I don’t think CP is rebuilding them, so far as I can tell they are being scrapped. Maybe that was the original plan to rebuild but unless someone comes out and says, I don’t think they are.

These units are bound for scrap at Alton Steel near St. Louis, will go on 258 when they get to KC
