Get out there! You meet the nicest people when you travel. Meet Gene "Crabby" and Gary from St Mary's, Georgia. Crabby and Gary were out running crab traps on the St Mary's river while Charlie and I waited to have Osprey hauled out. Crabby noticed me shooting some video of them and was kind enough to pull up and give me a ride. They are just a couple of the nice folks we met in Georgia. --Doug

That was awesome, Doug! Love blue crabs. We catch here in south Texas whenever we get a chance to get out fishing and my wife makes crab cakes or stuffs baked flounder with fresh crab meat. One of the best parts of life!

Next time, Shrimp: "Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it."--Bubbah

Back in the 60's and 70's (and before then I'm sure), the Gilman Paper Co polluted those waters so bad I'm amazed any marine life survived. Be careful what you eat!

One thing i forgot in my last comment was what was cool a weird at the same time my uncle had all the out boards in the boats mounted in the center of the boats so when you got to a trap line it would just sit in one spot and kinda hover in a tight circle in the current and stay in that exact spot with out even touching the controls so you could put the trap back in your exact spot with out alot of maneuvering and boy the would spin on a dime it was really neat.

The best way I've had them is to break them apart and clean out the guts before they go into the boil. The seasoning really gets into the meat and joints that way, also less of a mess to eat.

I live on the St. Johns river in Jacksonville Florida and my uncle and my cousins were all crabers back in the 80s and 90s on the St. Johns so I've spent a many of summers on there boats crabbing and it was exactly like that you go out early in the morning dump the traps bait them then go eat and tKe a nap then go back out in the late afternoon and do it all over again 7 days a week.

Those crabs look similar to "Blue Swimmer" crabs we have here in South Australia. They are about the same size as well, but the males of your Blue crabs have a narrower pouch were their sex organs are. Females look identical, slightly more brownish than the male.
@bruceohagan2477
@bruceohagan2477 2 жыл бұрын
enjoyed the video in Australia there are size limits to the crabs you can catch and you cannot take jennies ( females) so you do not over fish a limited resource😀

Does blue crab resemble the taste of any crab in particular? I'm former merchant marine for 16 years and have been out of the country. Sweet like snow crab?

@@pgnandt Crabby there could use shift cable for that Yamaha. I bet the crabs would be tasty. : )
@pgnandt
@pgnandt 2 жыл бұрын
@@SVSeeker Yes a small thing like a shift cable can be huge thing to some. Crabby would make some cool content fur'shur'. Also maybe some crab pots on the Seeker may not be a bad idea? Imagine having that crab haul. How could you preserve it? Salt cure? Smoking? Any time you can haul out protein from the ocean is a huge money saver. Beans and rice are cheep. Meat not so much.
