I live in Ohio but have been here twice, it is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen! The last time I visited there was a large black rattlesnake coiled up on the path part way up the trail. He was making himself heard from quite a distance. I had been warned by another hiker so was aware of it. Had to crawl up over a steep area to avoid it. When I hiked back down quite a while later it was still there and I got some good pictures (zoom). I counted 16 rattles on his tail. Again had to slide down the area to miss it. The falls is a real treat though quite a climb on a good trail with lots of switchbacks.

Wow! That must have been exciting! One of several good things about hiking in the winter or early spring is no snakes or bugs!

Ashlei Selden I don't remember, but I really doubt it. It's quite steep there.

are there any places to camp on this trail?
@colong70349 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. However, there is a campground about 0.5 miles from the trailhead.

Scott Obenhein There is a Crabtree Falls Campground. Its half a mile from the falls. Also, several more campgrounds within ten miles.

Is this where they killed the last Mojican?

+James C The book "Last of the Mohicans" was set in Upstate NY, around the Lake George area and the Adirondacks. The exact location where Magua died is not clear. The waterfalls in the 1992 movie are in NC - Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and High Falls, in DuPont State Recreational Forest, and Linville Falls along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not in Virginia.
