I love the quilting ladies, I made a quilt top in the 70s with my great grandmother. It’s always in my heart spending time with her.❤️

"How far can a needle carry you?" Wow, that's inspiring. This is a lovely video and I've always been interested in the AIDS quilt project. Heart breaking and heart warming at the same time.

I Enjoyed the quilting part of this because it reminded me of my grandmother. When I was really young I remember her piecing small pieces of material together to make a quilt top. As the woman said you had to make quilts to keep the children warm.

I loved watching the loom, I use to have one and would use it all the time to create pieces of fabric.

There's a wonderful little book The Quilt by a man who spent summers on the Iron Range in northern Minnesota with his grandmother as a child. Farms were far apart and towns farther, so when a baby was due, women from throughout the area would gather to help with the birthing. They'd work on a quilt with pieces cut from clothing of people who had died and tell stories of each person represented there, for remembrance.

This is beautiful on every level!! We need more folks like this...folks who work with hand and heart. Crafting and artisan communities are imperative socially and economically. Thank you for sharing this with us. Blessings from sunny FL. :-)

@@normathomas8276 I'd say deeper than ignorance - arrogance; the base of which is fear, fear, and perhaps jealousy of artistry, beauty and community.

I especially enjoyed the quilting part, and the last lady's story. The only thing I think was a little strange was how few people of color go to Penland; not sure if that if for financial reasons or what, but it struck me as odd.
