When it comes to craft room lighting, there a few factors to consider. My must haves include brightness, temperature, and location adjustment. Dive in and learn about how different lights measure up to a variety of criteria. I even have the new Cricut Bright 360 to add to my craft light comparison. I love my Ott light. I also bought 5000 kelvin light bulbs from Amazon that I use in a floor lamp in my craft room - the kind with spidery looking arms that bend every which way - and the ceiling light. Works great!

Thank you for discussing the cheap lamps and showing their limitations. I think people should get the prices of the cheap lamps and see what they can and cannot do. And then get prices of lamps that CAN do things they need, such as brightness or daylight white temperature. And THEN maybe see what kind of sale you need, to be able to get the best light that CAN do what you need. Joann’s has good sales on Ott lights often, as well as coupons you can use. So you could get an Ott light for the price of a cheap light. Same thing for the Cricut light. It’s very expensive, but maybe they will have a sale that would make it possible to get one. My point is to see what features you need in what would be your “dream light”, and do NOT settle for something cheap that will only give you frustration, when you could just wait for a sale to get a better one at the same price as the cheapie. I see SO many comments just referring to price.. don’t be penny wise and pound foolish. You DO get what you pay for (most of the time). And the cheapie lights won’t last as long, so you could end up needing to buy it twice, so you spend as much or more than if you bought a better one in the first place.

So helpful! I have a smaller Ott table style, and I have noticed some issues at night with seeing colors correctly - thus so explains at least part of that!

Thank you, Angie. I appreciate the review. I have used a Lee Valley light that has a magnifier but does attach to my craft table. It is the best craft light I have ever had. Sits way above my table and can be pulled down with just my hand not needing knob adjustments. I love the magnifier for detail work. I now realize I do not need a Cricut light. LOL

Thank you so much for the review. I have the ottlite that come with floor pedestal and it has the option to clamp. Mine also has two lights. A long light and one with light that has a glass that magnifies with a built in small magnifier for projects to look even closer. very sturdy and I can use either light.

Thank you so much for reviewing these lights I do have an Ott o light with an amplifier on it and it is a floor model which if I had the choice again I would get a desk top the floor model I had to put between two tables so it won't fall over so I would get the desk light myself I bought it it show in probably 10-15 years ago I had to change the bulb once because the lamp. Knocked over on the floor and the was $18 from Amazon $35 from Jo-ann's thank you for taking the time to compare because if I get another one I will probably get another Otto I've been happy with it so far thanks again Vicki Texas

Hello Angie I know you are talking about lights but I see you have changed your craft room and o love it. Can you tell me where you brought the shelves stands for your circuit and other items. I have my extra room I’m trying to get right but just can’t seem to find the right stands for storage. Thanks very much

Get you some little zip ties for that black lamp cord & attach it to the frame! Goodness, that cord would have driven me insane after a year & a half…

Hello Angie this is my first time ever owning and using a Cricut i have the Cricut explore 3 I did watch your video on the blades and wow amazing !!! I’m just lost on the explore 3 because I hardly hear anyone talk about it or videos on it very minimal. My question is what blades can I use on that machine and what can I cut on it ? I’ve been told you can not engrave with this machine that’s it’s only usable for card stock. I’m wanting to do felt and leather and of course card stock. Could you PLEASE help me with this machine I’m so nervous to use this because I don’t know where to start ?

Any of my videos that are using the Explore Air 2 will apply to the Explore 3. The Explore 3 is just a newer machine so I have had less time to make videos. Engraving can be done but you would need to use an off brand tool that could void your warranty. Felt works with the Explore but only stiff felt. And I only use faux leather with my Explore. I don't like how it cuts real leather.

I totally get it with lights for crafting, sewing and colouring and it took me ages to find the right one and a couple of years ago I settled for the BenQ WiT e-reading lamp. A lot of money but with a max lux of 5700k, totally adjustable and a bulb life of 50,000 I thought it was worth the investment and it hasn't let me down. Desk stand is large but able to get a clamp or floor stand for it. I like the design of the Cricut one though. x

hi I am torn between buying the 360 OR a Lume Cube Ring Light as I am looking to have one light for crafting, photography and potential content creation...any tips?

They would both be good for that. A ring light may be larger if you are looking to light a larger area for the content creation portion.

Hi is there anyway to test that the lamp works before you click it into the base? Once it’s in the base you can’t take it apart
