We made a custom wooden handgrip for the Canon C70. It consists of two handles that are attached to a flat baseboard. Two 3/8" threaded bolts screw into the SmallRig Bottom Plate through the baseboard to secure the handgrip to the camera. Using a wider handgrip allows for more ergonomic and steady camera control compared to just holding the camera body.
This is useful for “quick capture” situations where you may want to incorporate movement into your shots without the weight of a gimbal, however a gimbal is still preferred for situations where stability is important.
This was a super fun DIY project and we hope to make more stuff like this in the future. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments and we'll do our best to answer them!
