Director Geeta Vasant Patel, production designer Jim Clay, actor Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), and more reflect on the scale of the Harrenhal castle set, the introduction and design of Baela’s (Bethany Antonia) dragon, Moondancer, and the creation of Aegon’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) ancient Valyrian armor. Watch House of the Dragon S2 Sundays at 9PM on #StreamonMax.

Kudos to whoever had the idea of uploading the BTS long videos on KZfaq. Everyone should see and appreciate the tremendous effort that goes into producing this show. I’m frequently amazed by the physical props and effects shown in these BTS videos, which I initially thought were CGI when watching the episodes.

House of the Dragon sets and costumes are insane for scenes lasting only a few minutes. Some can only dream of having this kind of love and care for their shows. The fact that this only cost HBO about the same per episode as some SFX-heavy Disney+ series is a head scratcher. The difference in production value is night and day.

@@Thenoobestgirl I think the person you're asking the question to has confused the Guy from House Bracken in this Episode with Aegor Rivers also known as Bittersteel who is a bastard son of Aegon IV Targaryen, who is Lord of Seven Kingdoms and King of the Andals, Rhoynar and the First Men about 40 years later. I think he confused the Bracken boy from this episode with Bitersteel is because Aegor Rivers' mother is a bracken but I'm pretty sure they will talk about all of this in the GoT prequel show A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms which is coming out next year and will take place 60-90 years after HotD and about 100 years before GoT events. The secret meeting between Rhaenyra and Alicent inside the Great Sept reminded me of the fictional meeting between Queens Elizabeth and Mary in _Mary Queen of Scots_ (2018). Historians agree that Elizabeth and Mary have never met in person, but the film made it convincing how it could have happened secretly and not been recorded in history. Much props to Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke for their performances in portraying the tragedy of Rhaenyra and Alicent's past friendship.

Trying to say, practice joy ride but laughing a little much. Although it reminded me of season 1, with young Aegon, first riding Vhagar. The intricacies on Aegon's armour, is incredible. @18.10, the scene itself between Rhaenys and Corlys, was so lovely and touching. I loved that. Especially with all of the chaos around, and full on action, I liked the scene as an anchor (pun unintended), and grounding the show with a touch of realism and human emotion.

Can you imagine😂”Oh by the way, the fake castle also has to be waterproof INSIDE now” “I’m sorry what”😂😅 like this show is nuts. These production and set people are absolute masters of their crafts and even on the smoothest run sets, no one can prepare for the random lightning strike of inspiration that you can’t not do once it’s been spoken into existence. If that scene hadn’t been constantly raining inside 95% of the castle the scene wouldn’t have even made as clear of a narrative impact, I literally can’t imagine it without the downpour. It makes the scene as tense as it is, in part because of the sound of the rain reverberating around all these half-destroyed structures. The rain makes Daemon’s progress through the castle ten times more tense. And Matt Smith is such a good sport for the art. He’s all about difficult filming conditions to get the shot, and from everything I’ve heard, he’s a great leading man to have on set for long difficult days, he keeps it fun for everyone and is a pleasure to work with. 😊
