It's going to be an epic table..that should see several generations of use at minimum..I hope you mark / label your work..here in the states that's at minimum a few thousand dollars just for the slabs..probably at least a $10k table and possibly a $20k table if not more to get commissioned here..That Blacktail guy would charge $50k..
@HewAndAwe
@HewAndAwe 9 ай бұрын
Veeeeery different over there though bud! The wood yeah fucking expensive but 1% of the population would pay that kinda money - besides I call BS on his vids he’s not getting 50k for a table no way. It’s not like they’re class either.
@agentcovert
@agentcovert 9 ай бұрын
@@HewAndAwe Blacktail claims to get 8k to 10k for a epoxy wood desk top, zero drawers..just prefab metal legs screwed on..some are claiming 20k to 30k for a dinner table size..which is insanely expensive..if Blacktail studio made it..he would charge 50k as he has people on a multi year waiting list to pay 10k for 700 worth of materials..it's gross how much you pay for so little..if you charge too low like a fair price you won't have customers..if you grossly over charge and make people wait it makes a false sense of rarity and value..people do this in several different fields..knife makers, golf clubs, fishing poles, furniture etc..double or triple the fair price then make them wait at least several months at minimum..that's seriously the business practices..Cheers..

Thanks mate! I haven’t used them to say, but I see they come with 01 steel which is good! The Axminster ones look nice but it’s not a point I’d base the purchase on. In my experience, colored masking tape is a bad idea for glue ups like this. If it gets pinched between the boards or glued in a tight spot and you can’t get it 100% off you will see green bits in the final piece. Better to use normal tan colored tape as it’s similar to wood color and won’t be noticed, just in case. It’s a lesson I learned from my mistakes.
@HewAndAwe
@HewAndAwe 9 ай бұрын
I found either way it’s visible so now if that happens I push the tape into the joint and then get a dab of glue on my finger and wipe across the join and no one is the wiser ☺️
@McCartWoodworks
@McCartWoodworks 9 ай бұрын
Everybody here is talking about how stressful the glue up was. I was personally stressed every time you used that table saw. I half expected for you to come back each time with your hand wrapped up and missing a finger or two. You have a track saw so might I suggest to break down those uneven boards with that a bit more before your milling process instead of the table saw
@HewAndAwe
@HewAndAwe 9 ай бұрын
On the contrary, if you notice how the boards were on the table saw when they were finished being ripped they dropped away from the blade. Not only that but that’s only a 3hp saw not strong enough to move the weight I was putting through it. I also make sure my hands never go into the red zone the throat plate area. That was difficult to see from the camera angles. A track saw is actually more dangerous especially that huge bad boy, you can’t clamp the track down, and unless the cut off is left suspended in air the piece could pinch the blade in one of two ways. It’s also very slow compared to a 3hp saw! There’s a lot of tension in burr wood which I’d rather deal with at a table saw than a track saw riding up the track towards me, a table saw blade is static.
@McCartWoodworks
@McCartWoodworks 9 ай бұрын
@@HewAndAwe that blade may be static but you and the board are not. All it would take is for one tooth to catch and pull that piece to catch and pull your hand in. I have seen many videos of hands far from the blade get pulled towards the blade in a matter of milliseconds. General rule of thumb is do not run severely warped and twisted boards through the table saw, especially if you know there is potential stress in that wood. It is not for me. Way to many people lose digits on a daily basis to the table saw and at the end of the day I will take every precaution to keep mine and limit my chances for issues.
