Just use a texture pack that has a nicer Pumpkin Visor effect, you still can't get it off but you at least can see

Fun fact: having a pumpkin stuck on your head is better than a dragon head, zombie head or wither/wither skeleton skull, because with a small texture pack it now does not affect you and you don't have to worry about endermen. Warning: habit of looking at endermen may transfer between worlds, don't log in to the wrong one!

Best punishment in MC: set em under a dispenser, then pop a pumpkin with curse of binding on em. No way to get it off.

He should have used a curse of binding elytra. As soon as it is broken it is completely useless and if he wanted to he could have already broken it before. Making the chestplate set unusable is much worse than the helmslot.
