Thank you, at first I didn't really know what a scoring board was and was about to buy one until I saw your video with the notepad. That's a genius idea.

Glad to help. It's hard when you are newer to crafting, to know all of the terminology and to decide what tools you need vs the ones you think you need. If you are going to make a lot of cards, I'd suggest you buy a score board, as there are a lot of cards that require several scores, and they need to be accurate.. If you want to know the tools that I use the most, this video might help you. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ppeoYLxkyNqyqqs.html Best of luck, and if you ever have any questions, feel free to email me and I'll be sure to get back to you with answers...saundralparker@yahoo.com...Sandy

My initials are S L P, so I loved your screen name. I started this channel because I couldn't find anyone on YT that could tell me which tools would work well for me, and I was frustrated that others would go through the same repeat buying, just to find something that works. Here's a video I made with tools that work really well for me. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ppeoYLxkyNqyqqs.html Please let me know if you have any questions, as I am always glad to help new crafters. I don't sell anything on my channel, so if I give my opinion, it's not to make money... The links I give below the video were the best prices I found online, but I would price check before you buy anything to make sure you find the best prices...Sandy saundralparker@yahoo.com

I wanted people to think of other ways to use a score board, but I couldn't live without mine and use it all the time. Mine has a metal ball stylus (it's an old Martha Stewart model that's no longer made), and I think that metal ball makes a world of difference.

Nice one - I've a spare one of those too although it's spare because it's unsafe - the plastic thing that you rest your finger on slips to the side of the blade and without you knowing there's blood running from your finger - not nice - so maybe I'll have to do a job on it first. Great idea though. I sometimes use the handle of a paint brush or the side of the scissors - always botch it though so will try your way.

I sometimes use a mouse mat to lean on - I have two spares lying around!! (won in bundle on the radio for text competition or something that's why there's extras). I wonder if you laminated that measuring sheet and stuck it to the back would it work too - oh thank you again. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the inspiration.
@craftingforalmosteveryone6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if laminating it would take away from the ability to press into it...Never tried it, but it might work. Let me know if you give it a try...Thanks for sharing the idea.
@bluecurlygirl6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking that too so possibly best not.
@paulahills95466 жыл бұрын
I tried laminating the top with the markings on, and found that if you score down it while it is still warm, you almost get a groove just like a normal scoreboard! I used an iron to laminate, so I could "top up" the warmth, and found this worked well. I hope this isn't too late for you to read this reply! Keep up the good work! :D

Great tips. I've seen or used some but never thought to use a knitting needle. As far as the scoreboard that is right up there with my scissors. I need my scoreboard. I use it a lot. Even to craft on my lap when my large cutting board is in use or to sit my dinner on. Haha. I just can't find the clear t-square locally. Thanks Sue
@craftingforalmosteveryone8 жыл бұрын
+SueHuskins I'm sorry to hear you can't find one near you. Joanns carries it in my local store for $2.79 and Amazon Prime carries them as well. I love my score board as well, but wanted to give people ideas on how they could save money starting out crafting. It worked really well too. I was kind of surprised at how well it worked.

I was just thinking about all the wonderful tutorials on here from crafters and how we all share our knowledge etc. A friend of mine often sees the cards I've made (and buys a lot from me too bless him), or hears about ideas for cards etc and one day while browsing through my christmas cards he exclaimed "These are lovely. I hope you've copyrighted these designs." Well, when I finished laughing I told him, "I'm a crafter. We're all in it for a reason. That's why we craft. We're not about the money. We share." He couldn't understand it at all. I thought what different worlds industry and crafting. Sorry, gave bad impression of him. He is autistic so the emotional end of things doesn't register in the same way. Ah bless, I think that's why he's glad we became friends - he tells me who the cards are for and I do the rest ;) Fair play to all us crafters for our caring sharing nature. We're a special breed and let's not forget it. Sorry - didn't mean to hijack your post. You really are so good at taking the time to get things just so and caring so much about us all. Long may you reign girl.

They don't make my scoreboard any more, I'm so sorry. You can buy Martha Stewart Score Boards, but they aren't like mine. You might look at a Scor-Pal, it's pretty close to it.

So you need a soft board, spongy one? Would a big mouse pad work? Thank you for this great money saving idea!
@craftingforalmosteveryone Жыл бұрын
You need a surface that your tool won't get stuck on and sometimes spongy surfaces drag the tool. You could try it, but I think you'd have better luck with a legal pad or a notebook. Hope you find something that works well for you. Ssndy

Thanks for the video. No matter what I do, I can't cut straight, I can't measure straight, everything turns out nonsense and I have to trim and trim and end up with things half the size they were meant to be. So irritating!

Robbie, I'm your girl. Do you have a score board? If not, you should get one so your fold is straight...I think you'll be frustrated with the system I've given you here. This is the one I have and it's discontinued. It has a metal stylus to make the lines and it's big, so you can use 12" paper in it. Here's a link on ebay. tinyurl.com/y5vszwd2 I think your cutting issue might be from your paper trimmer, and if you email me, we'll talk about it and I think I can help. I need to know the paper trimmer so I can help with your problem. Also, this video should help you. It talks about how to cut paper and walks you through it.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hp2RmrRhzrrdc3k.html saundralparker@yahoo.com Sandy

Don't get hurt with the needle. Just get yourself the largest tapestry needle you can find and a cork from a wine bottle. Stick the point into the cork and secure with some glue. Voila, scoring tool.

İ am sorry for my question, but is it artritis in your fingers?
@craftingforalmosteveryone2 ай бұрын
Sorry for my late reply, and it's perfectly OK to ask about my hands. Yes, I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands (basically everywhere) and when I started watching YT videos about crafts, it made me crazy that I couldn't find any videos that would actually tell viewers what tools they can and can't use if they have issues with their hands/wrists...so I started this channel, unmonetized, so if I tell you I can use a tool, people would trust I'm telling the truth as there's no money in it for me either way. And I don't think anyone on YT would be upset with you asking about their hands when you approach it with respect like you have. If you have any other questions for me, please ask, as I'm happy to help in any way I can. Sandy

@craftingforalmosteveryone thanks for reply, dear Sandy...I just wanted to help, that is why I asked. It is a digestive issue if you want to stop it from development further. I want you to consider it. Your body can not digest certain foods, and it is an autoimmune reaction of your body... If you would want to hear about possible treatment methods, I would love to share my knowledge with you

@@user-nt9rj8sz4m Thanks so much for your input. Unfortunately, every joint in my body has been destroyed by my arthritis in the last 40 years so there's really no fixing them as that time has sadly passed. I have tried several diets designed for arthritis and none worked for me. My RA is genetic, linked to my sister's type 1 diabetes from age 4 and my father's beck-sarcoidosis that's a lesser known disease. When I was diagnosed with RA in the early 1980's, I tried everything, every diet, every vitamin regimen and nothing helped. It is rare for anyone to get RA that was as fast moving as mine, as I needed my knees replaced within 3 yrs of diagnosis but held off until I was 27 for my first replacement. after that, I had joints replaced every two years until all of my weight bearing joints were replaced as well as my shoulder. I appreciate your concern though...Sandy

Could I live without my score board? Absolutely, but I would never want to. I use it on every card I make.

+Linda Edwards Me too, but if it came down to affording this over another crafting item, I might wait for this and buy other things first. The tablet worked really well, I was surprised at how nice the scores were.
