Excellent Video!!!! I am a 32 female with no mechanical experience and I was able to watch this video and completely clean my carburetor successfully after all the new gas I put in the tank leaked out through the air filter area. Thank you!!!

My pressure washer would not start at all. I followed your fabulous instructions on cleaning the carb. I replaced the fuel line and a broken choke throttle lever as well. My pressure washer is running beautifully and I am so thrilled that I found your video. Thank you so much, Debbie (grandmother of eight)!!!!

Good video. Because the float is at one end and hinge at other with needle valve in the middle, as the bowl fills it raises the float to cut off fuel, not "float up when it needs more fuel" as stated in the video. A float, "floats" because it floats on the fuel therefore cutting off any more fuel and avoid a "flooded" carb. Just to clarify for others.

I took apart the carb and cleaned it, replaced the spark plug and pulled it a few times and it started right up. Thanks so much for this video. I would have made numerous mistakes with the carb cleaner (rubber parts) had I NOT watched your video. Thank you so much. Saved me some bucks. As for those of you who are having a hard time pulling the rope starter after the fuel is out... try relieving the water pressure in the hose by pulling on the wand trigger. Once the pressure is gone you will once again be able to pull with ease. At least, that's my experience. Hope it helps.

There was one key part that you didn't clean - the bolt that holds the float bowl on. There are very tiny holes in that bolt that allow fuel to pass from the bowl up through the main jet. All the old gas that turns to gunk settles into the bottom of the bowl and the passages in that bolt were clogged big time. A paper clip worked to clear the lateral passage but the passage at the very end of the bolt had to be cleared with small, 26 gauge wire. This was the cause of my problems.

Thanks for the video man, I've got a 2-year old pressure washer that I paid $350 for. Wouldn't start yesterday without shooting engine starter into the carb as I pulled. video gives me enough confidence to take out the carb, check it out, and put it back in. Cross your fingers for me.

That's cool man. I have heard from a Northern tool mechanic say that it is ok to let it run in between trigger pulls. It has the unloaded valve and yours looks new enough to have the thermal relief. I mean I wouldn't run it excessively but some shouldn't hurt it. BAM !! : )

Try relieving the pressure on the wand by squeezing the handle, like when you are spraying something! Y ou may have an unloader valve issue on the pressure washer itself. Hope this helps.

Thanks man. I just started it and shut it off for the video. Probably still not a good idea after thinking about it. I'm normally very careful not to even let the engine run without the trigger running, not allowing it to build up too much pressure and blow out the pump. Which I have heard is a huge issue on these. Moral of the story, never lend your pressure washer out! :)

Maybe I missed it, but the Brass Bolt that secures the bowl has to be cleaned too. There is a jet from the top and a cross path on the sides near the base, I used a paperclip and safety pin to clean it. No amount of carb cleaning will make a difference with out this item cleaned. I spent 2 days re-cleaning everything before someone told me about it. Hope this helps someone.

MY thoughts exactly. This guy did such a bang-up job with this video I was wondering how he missed that. I came back to this video because I just did it to my unit. It runs now, but the carb needs the full cleaning. The Vid makes me feel better about going forward.

hey higgidy... have the same exact pressure washer (5 hours old) and it wouldnt start at all. i cleaned the carb as u shown and it started and ran (thanks ur awesome to explain so clearly) the needle was stuck solid so it wasnt getting gas but now after running it gets too much gas, gas drips from the air filter... I am assuming its the float or needle...any suggestions...Possibly a longer cleaning or is there something else possibly im missing..all seals seem good.

I need help!!! I did everything you said about the carb and cleaned it all out. Initially my problem was that after sitting all winter, I put in new gas and it just poured out. So anyway, I was putting everything back together and noticed the throttle wire doesn't move the lever. Nothing is frozen, it all moves freely. The wire just doesn't appear to move in and out properly to effect a change in the setting. Thanks Linda
@catprints
@catprints 5 жыл бұрын
Wish I could see how the throttle linkage spring was hooked up or knew what the normal movement was. As a few others have said, I can get it to move 1 way but not back unless I push it back with my finger. There doesn't seem to be much tension but there seems only 1 place it could logically go. Is it supposed to be loose? Haven't put everything back together to try it yet. Thanks.
@higgidy2
@higgidy2 11 жыл бұрын
@menudo666: Hard to say really, but it's possible there is a float issue there. I would make sure it's clean and free again first. Maybe something got lodged in there and is now throwing back the extra gas. It has to be the carb, so I would make sure it's nice and clean. Take it completely apart and clean everything metal with carb cleaner. Clean the seals with water. Make sure they sit back in place tight when you put it back together. good luck!

Very informative, Some great tips, especially the use of WD40, as it is alcohol based and will evaporate quickly, acting as a lubricant when the video shows it being used on the fuel line. However, I would prefer to use a penetrating oil, like PB in the aerosol can with a pin point extender, this will blend and burn with the fuel and not leave a gummy residue to gather debris in the future use of the motor as WD40 will leave a residue.

Does your throttle just freely move around? If I have it fully open, it appears to keep it open, but if I close the throttle (but don't turn it off) it still seems to freely move wherever it wants, even to fully open. I'm having a heck of a time getting it to start. The carberator is clean and should be working as all the ports are clear of any gunk.

Also, you can buy a carb rebuild kit, which I would have done first before a holiday weekend - comes with all new rubber, and new needle valve, etc... and has new gaskets as well - as a rule of thumb, never re-use an old gasket - just not worth the risk if it failing and having to do it over again....
