Mini guide to Eisstockschießen!

Whilst on my travels, I played the great old game of Eisstockschießen! In this mini guide I explain what the game is and how we played it. Quiz fans don't worry, the quiz is coming back soon. Thanks so much for almost 2000 subscribers. :D xxx

die Daube - target (ours was roughly the size of an ice hockey puck)

I've seen this on TV as a kid, it was part of a movie where people played that. Then I was somewhere, I believe on holidays with my parents, and there were people playing it, but I wasn't allowed, my parents didn't want me to, for some unknown reason. Afterwards I have totally lost the focus on it and was only now just reminded that there is this game. So thanks for that! Although I hardly think I'm going to start playing it any time soon.

+Seegal Galguntijak Thanks for your comment! Maybe your parents were worried you may get hit by a swinging stock. We kept our distance from the player and mostly they didn't look behind them when they threw!

Very popular in Bavaria! In my Region (Nature- and Nationalpark Bavarian Forest) it is played during the whole year (WInter of course and Summer - Sommereisstockbahnen)! A also very popular game in Bavaria is Hufeisenwerfen. Also the Schnitzejagd in the Forests is a funny and nice game played with 2 groups of people. And what becomes more and more popular as a Sport or Game, not only in Bavaria is 3D-Shooting Archery - 3D-Bogenschießen in the Forests at Parcours! Greetings, Michael

Thank you for making my week yet again Martha! You always put a smile on my face when watching your videos! And I am dreading when I fly to Hannover in the summer to meet my German friend. She has challenged me to a game! I know I will be humiliated!

Yeah, new video *-* I played Eissttockschießen last year during the Christmas holidays with my family, it was the first time but I had seen it a lot around here (west Germany, Rhineland). First we played it just with our self-made rules, then we found a card with the official rules which are still a bit different from yours. Thanks for another great video! ;)

Thank you for your comment. 🙂 It was an interesting game, I'm glad I had the chance to play. The indoor arena is a good idea so people can play in Summer, but perhaps it's not so popular. ☀️

This is quite similar to Petanque. Rules not difficult to understand. Nearest win points. I'm curious about the equipment. Is it stone underneath? Perhaps you can make another video on that. What it is and where to buy. TQ in advance.

Schönes Video. Ich habe bereits ein paar Mal beim Eisstockschießen zugesehen, aber es noch nie selber gespielt. Jetzt freue ich mich auf das Boßel Video. Ich war vor 20 Jahren das letzte Mal boßeln, aber ich habe es in guter Erinnerung.

we do that in austria as well, but i've never been a huge fan of it, i prefer bowling :D

Well. Boßeln ist more about getting drunk in an official way. Everytime I played it (I'm from Lower Saxonia in Germany) there was a "Bollerwagen" with lots of liqueur in it.

One correction, the plural of Stock is Stöcke, not Stocks

+tesky12345 Während meiner Zeit in Deutschland, habe ich dieses Spiel noch nicht vorher gesehen. In der Nähe von mir im Norden gibt es eine ESS Halle. Aber nur im Winter ist es aufgebaut. :)
