This is 100% Marc's natural voice, so this time any similarity to Freddie is purely coincidental (and totally real). In other words, he is not trying to sound like Freddie, the voice is what it is.

Most of the time u can see/hear someone play something and play the same thing from what they’re playing, here what he’s playing is weird and new and I couldn’t do that. It’s actually quite nice I wanna try and figure it out for myself coz it sounds really good, but depends how lazy I am haha

If you just close your eyes you can hear Freddie covering the Goo Goo Dolls for brief moments, but hear most of Marc and his lovely voice. The fact that he does sound like Freddie is purely coincidental and in this video it’s evident that he doesn’t push for it. That’s really his voice . It makes me smile a bit! ❤️

I was really curious to see what he sounds like on a non-Queen cover. And here he is, he is not imitating Freddie, his voice naturally just sounds like him. Amazing. The hard work he has put behind his singing skills pays off, and people tend to like him 'cause he reminds them a legendary artist. And it's hard to believe that 22 years ago he sounded almost as good as he does now!!! God bless him.

1998 isn't when this was recorded, that's just the year the original song is from. Same goes for the 7 or 8 videos before this one with 1990s dates in the title.

The first album he recorded was with his band Downhere in 2001. Marc has said in interviews he more fully discovered his own voice by their third album, which was Wide-Eyed and Mystified, recorded in 2006. He sounds very similar here, but he's also getting better and better, imo. I think of his latest Christmas recordings: Stevie Wonder's What Christmas Means to Me and The Grinch...so much variety! @@executor32

@@artfulstoriesFirst album was in 1999! The second album, "So Much For Substitutes" was released in 2003, and you can already hear some similarities to Freddie in Marc's voice. By the third album, you can hear more Queen influences (stacked vocals and tighter harmonies) in the overall tracks.

I meet Marc Martel 9 years ago and he was talking to me to till 20 minutes. He was amazing to me and his beautiful blue eyes of his own perfect ocean waves in his eyes. I love Marc Martel so damn much and I won't forget the way I met him and DownHere too.It was a blessing for me.
