I worked at Ocean Spray in Richmond this year as a binner. The 2020 harvest was expected to be in excess of 53 million pounds of cranberries. This was one of the most enjoyable jobs in my working life, great people and experience, hope to be back next year.

Cranberry sauce with chicken or turkey is really good. Cranberries are not the only berries that taste a lot better cooked than raw.

I remember seeing those ads for some cranberry juice when I was younger where there were just 2 farmers standing in the middle of a cranberry field talking about the juice. Those were the good ol days.

I love making cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It couldn't be easier ... equal parts water and sugar, and a bag of cranberries [plus a touch of salt] ... bring them to a boil, lower to a simmer, until all of the berries have burst. Voila, sauce! And, a lovely aroma will permeate your whole house.

Cranberries (unprocessed) are very good for you. They are full of anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer nutrients. They help keep the liver healthy and lower your blood pressure. And although they are not a sugar bomb they taste great! A great way to add flavor to your steel cut oats for breakfast. And please do business with mom and pop farmers like this. I wish I lived in Canada.

I live in Southeastern Massachusetts, one of the biggest cranberry growing regions in the US. Going on field trips to cranberry bogs as a kid was a right of passage and we always got to pick our own cranberries (it’s not very easy by hand). Very nice informative video!

Growing up in NJ we lived right outside of Whitesbogs. Every year we would go on school trips there and learn about the history and stuff of how they were farmed and even got to go out and farmed some by hand. (this was fun as a 2nd grader. as an adult, it is awful lol) I didn't realize until I was half way through college that a lot of people are unaware of how cranberries are harvested or grown. Its interesting watching people learn new things.

This was absolutely riveting. I knew about cranberry bogs, but had no idea that they aren't bogs all the time. And the harvesting was fascinating to watch. Now I'm craving cranberry pie (so good - tastes a lot like cherry, only more tart).

Amazing - they don't grow cranberries here in the UK (although we do eat them), and seeing where they come from & how they're harvested is fantastic! I did know about flooding the fields to harvest them; but I didn't know much about why, or any more than that!

Having not watched this until now, I was really hoping it would have been filmed in my home area of central Wisconsin, but oh well. Great video, and thanks for sharing the story of the cranberry harvest with many people that never knew much about them before. The misconception that they actually grow under water is the one I encounter the most.

very interesting! In Alberta, my grandma and I would always go pick the cranberries in the woods, she could fill a gallon pail faster than I could cover the bottom layer. The wild crans do taste slightly different than farmed, not sure why though. Great video :)

I made a cranberry cake with 3 layers for christmas once and the sweet cream is perfect with the sour fresh berries :3 I coated some on top with sugar which made them look like they are cought in ice crystals - so pretty! It was interesting to see how they get harvested.

I LOVE cranberries. Like, I just eat them as they are. But they are absolutely delicious when you first freeze them and put some warm caramel sauce on them (preferrably homemade, but storebought is also really good). Or just have the berries fresh and not frozen, also works really well in my opinion. Absolutely delicious!

In my country cranberry’s grow naturally. We call them “purvs” where they grow. “purvs” in english means swamp. I’ve never heard about cranberry farms and i don’t know if we have them.

I actually love whole cranberries. I put it in oatmeal, potatoes, corn, just about any dish. You have to get accustomed to the taste. It gives it a nice bite. I load up my freezer around the holidays so I have them all year. Only blueberries have slightly more antioxidants, so they are very healthy. Blueberries, cranberries and oatmeal, the perfect dish. : )

if for whatever reason you go unconscious while working in the water. If you fall down even in shallow water the life jacket if worn properly will make an unconscious person roll around onto their back and float with their face above water.
