If it was not for you and your video, I would of not been able to do this ... or attempt this . It was a success because of you. Saved $ 775 mechanic wanted . I will add suggestions. From this experience. (1). The removal of the heat shield , not easy ,, The one nut , and two bolts are easy to remove , However to remove the starter heat shield out of way is not easy , the exhaust is in the way , So you have to twist and squeeze, and bend the shield to remove and replace it , When putting shield back on careful not to cut the starter wires. Taking starter out is fairly easy -- 14 mm socket . (2) getting sensor out not easy, Take long wide flat head , 10 inch flat head screw driver angle it up to where the starter was . Put tip of flat head on the barrel portion the round stubby part of sensor , and lightly tap screwdriver with hammer, -- tap sensor with screwdriver- This should loosen the seal , loose. To get sensor out. (3) putting new sensor back in , look at green rubber like seal gasket like material on the sensor, This is what makes the tight seal , wiggle and turn sensor back and forth with downward pressure to make sure sensor is set down flush and deeper enough, into the engine , next twist and line up bolt hole. Put finger up to sensor run finger around rear / back of sensor to make sure it is flush with back to engine. (4) needed is a good flash light or shop light, If you do not have patience, don’t drink coffee before doing this job. (5). A few different 10 mm sized sockets are needed . Deep , thin walled , getting to the 10 mm bolt on sensor is tricky as well as putting the bolt back into engine after new sensor is in place is tricky, as it’s the angle and your body position if you are doing this on your back on the ground, and not on a lift. (6). You need a - 1/2, inch standard socket to get off nut for wire connections from the starter. Oh disconnect battery first before dining any of this. (7). **** Take pictures of clip position , for the connection of the plug sensor connection - as the clip is not easy to put in , and after doing all the work , having a picture as a reference is great this makes it easy to reinstall latter when finished . That’s it Please give a like - a thumbs up to the guy that made this video . He saved me $ 775, Thank for a great video, this was my Labor Day project .

Thank you for your post! It helps! I got the bolt out but the sensor disengaged trying to get it out. Removing the starter looks like tons better access.

Please for your help. 😭 Do my symptoms match with your car before you changed its crankshaft sensor? 1 Intermittent issues when to start. 2 The idle sometimes is high on starting 3 The car seems to go well for a short period then stalls on highway, restarting is almost impossible, when it does, after 8km then stall again. My car is an old Santa fe CRDI 16V, 4×2 2004, 314000 KM. problem : the car stalls intermittently. No Check engine codes. Please for your help. 😭😭😭

I changed the ckp sensor two times by dismantling the time gear belt and it is very tuff... Yours is easier

Hi, I change almost everything under the hood. My 2.7 won't start good and when it start it run rough when I hit the accelerate it shutdown then take forever to start. Could be that sensor that you change? No engine codes. I change spark plugs and wires ignition coil pack,purge valve. Pcm valve. Mass airflow sensor.

great video thanks so much--my catalytic converter melted (inside part) which is just in front of this and the heat melted all the wires and the car started running terribly. The sensor is a real pain to get out mine has broken in half so will have to drill it out and its in a terrible position.

Removed the 15mm bolt seen at 7s to the left of the CPS. Bolt came out and so did what appears to be coolant. Bolt when missing. Can someone tell me what this bolt is called so I can find a replacement. Went at it from the top so I could not see what I was doing...

Can you tell me what the sensor next to the oil filter, my wire is melted and it won't start, hoping that's the problem.

My sons car , hard to get running. Once started it will run at an high idle 3k Falls on its face when trying to accelerate. Off of the throttle ides very rough then dies. Is this why you changed this sensor ? Thanks for any advice And thanks to this video I know I can do this👍🏻🍻

I get out only half of it the rest took more than a days work with drill and heat and crack with screw and waccum pices out.

You don't have to remove the starter. Just the dust cover and the heat plate. Stick your up there and do it blindly. Did it in 10 mins.

looks like you could just remove it from the top and leave the starter and stuff on it
