Great Job Alberto. Many videos show how to change this sensor without removing the main engine air hose, but that way is very difficult to find position of sensor. You gave a very good explanation and I am thankful.

Thanks for putting this video together Alberto. I watched every KZfaq on how to do this but yours gave me the confidence to go ahead and do it. Some of the videos say you can get at the E8 without a U-joint on the E8 socket. I can confirm that you absolutely do need a U-joint. My only issue was that the hose, pictured in your video at 2:13 (upper right) developed a split at the top end of that T junction. I plugged the end of the hose back into the air intake elbow and zip tied the split hose around that little nipple there. Probably should replace the hose anyway though. After replacement, checked the diag codes and everything looks good. Engine is running normal. Will test when the rain stops. Thanks again, great video.

Excellent description! Difficult to find! I took off the fender well plastic (the half in front of the firewall) and I'm trying to approach it from underneath. I still can't see the position sensor, so I'll have to feel around for it too. Thanks for your help!

I did the exact same thing to my 99' CLK320 😂 I bought all the extensions and it took me a whole day to break the bolt loose. So when I replaced the sensor I made sure to only hand tighten the bolt so I could get it off easier in the future.

.... im have to do this on a 05 c230 Kompressor.... this is a bitch to get to.. for the last couple of days i have just been eyeing it.....try to locate it.... i think im going to try to go in from the top.... removing the oil filter cap(and coving it) should get my the clearance at least to get my hand down a little bit... your the man thanks

Is the crank shaft sensor the same are for Mercedes c 280 1995?

I just finished doing my E55 AMG yr 2000 today jan 29 and i took 2 days messing with that crankshaft screw including buying the part 51 dollars from Autozone, car cranked but wouldn't start, put a 25 dollar fuel pump relay and still no start, also used the paper in the bolt to socket so it fits tight and wont fall out, i use paper thicker than newspaper because i want to lightly tap the bolt in with a hammer, also put Olive Oil on a paper towel and rub down your palms, back of your hands and wrists so its slippery getting in tight spaces so you dont scrach and bleed, and try not to get any grease or dirt on that Crankshaft sensor, i kept the olive oil off my fingers as to not touch the sensor tip, im no mechanic but i had to do the job because it would of cost me 500 dollars flatbed tow, part, and repair and thats not even the dealership, thats an arab repairmans Benz shop. The dealership might charge me 700 bucks, paying that kind of money makes mechanics outta us non mechanics.

Very clear video instructions. Up to now, I got everything out except for the sensor. It looks so hard because looks like it’s on the side of the motor, not on top. I am not sure I can do it, but I am at the last part, I have to finish it. I wonder if I don’t have to remove the power connector. Remove the screw and the sensor out together at the same time. Do I have to remove the power connector before I can see the screw? Thank you.

my car had a rough idle and turn off by itself i changed the fule pump it was raelly dirty i cleaned the injectors after that i run it , and a poping sound came out of the intake manifold and it never started after that it cranks but doesn't start No RPM while cranking the sparks work fine the fuel reaches the injector could it be a bad crank position sensor? or an intake manifold problem?

I just did this on my clk v6, absolute pig of a job. I did it with a stethoscope camera and bent long nose pliers in the end. Didn’t remove maf. Took me around 3 hours. Pig job

Mine broke off in it, taking apart the top half of motor. Will this timing be off? Got to take apart. My skills are 8. Tools are ok but timing new. Need video to see all to chain on driver side to the crankshaft

I managed to replace mine by going down the side behind the head without pulling the MAF in the center of the intake.

is it the same place on the c280 1998??
