Lenient time, but very annoying level. The worst part is that jump where you have to activate the metal stairs. I just couldn't consistently make that jump, and there's a lot of things that can go wrong on the way there. You can get invincible on the death route, but it's not really faster.

These time trials have completely robbed my joy for the Crash Bandicoot series. A sweaty controller, cramped hand and a death count so high.. it makes dark souls look easy. That being said.... Good God is it satisfying when you beat that fucking time.

I feel you. Thing is that after I get the Platinum I don't feel any pleasure at all. It's more like a feeling of "yeah. Platinum. As it should be" And this feeling of not Joy is keeping me away from games. Is that what growing up means? Anyways... Keep it real homie.

Dark Souls doesn't lock your controls for a second when you step on ice, nor are the hit boxes pill shaped.

I think you're more of a baller than you realize. A lot of success in Crash comes from cerebral, intuitive play beyond muscle memory - and you have these traits in spades. I think we all really appreciate your efforts.

Did this today. Took me over 70 attempts. In fact, I'd say these time trials are the worst of all 3 games. Crash 3 and 1's ones were quite easy, apart from Native Fortress, Fumbling In The Dark, The High Road and The Lab. Crash 2's ones were hell and I haven't even finished yet, at the current time of writing this comment. Lord send me that everlasting patience and strength

I have to strongly disagree. I struggled so badly with Crash 1 that I still have 8 Gold Relics left to get. I'm currently breezing through most of these Crash 2 Gold Relics. I'm only now finally struggling with them. A small bit on Hanging Out, but got it. Now its this one, and after watching this clip.. I used the death route and got it with ease. Now I'm on the last 4 on top level. So tbh, the only ones giving me a problem are the two Jetpack levels atm. I haven't played Warped yet, due to playing in Order until I give up. Heard that one is even easier then both games.

@@six-stringphantom1402 I'm playing through these games now, Crash 1 was a walk in the park compared to Crash 2. I think it's because Crash 1 is a lot more basic, the extra mechanics In crash 2 make it a lot more challenging for me. Most Crash 1 times for the gold simply require you to complete the level without dying, whilst in Crash 2 the times are a lot stricter. Even ones like Stormy Ascent give you plenty of time to complete the level

@@Nickkkkkkk344 crash 1 was easy to complete with the platinum relics and so was the crash 3. Crash 2 is my least favourite game in the trilogy and i can see why. The platinum relics are ass.

Im getting trolled by the developers. This is the 3rd level I discover that has a faster path, in this case the death route. Now for sure ill get platinum. After like 50 attempts and skipping the death route.

The invisible steps part is absolute cancer. Yesterday I could only ever make it if the penguin was spinning as I hit it (which is basically never). When I began today, I was somehow able to make it quite consistently regardless of the penguin. Now though, I can barely make it at all and have resorted to just hitting the damn trigger crate.

Like Garland says, it's the level not the time which kinda gets in your way, here. With that in mind, I think it's def in the players best interest to hit the (!) block [takes maybe 5 seconds?], and not have to worry about that stupid glitchy jump toward the penguin. I also advise invincibility if you are having any issues. No, it's not faster, but you'll still get the platinum while cruising through the level virtually untouched! You get the 3rd mask in section 3 with all the nitros, slide across the ice and fall into the final section 4. Just WAIT for invisibility to end, and immediately start it up again (the box is right there). This gives you extra speed and security while sacrificing any attempts at a WR. :) You'll have basically 2 jumps to make at the VERY end without the juice. Got it first attempt with this double invisibility strategy. And I'm nowhere near Garland's skill. gl guys! Lemme know if this works for you.

Okay so I figured out how to drastically improve my chances of making it up to the ledge with the penguin: after initially moving forwards (towards the screen) to hit the Mask crate, I must then make sure to move back again (away from the screen) before making the leap up to the ledge. This not only seems to bring much more success in reaching the penguin, but often I was able to run right behind it without losing my mask. This also meant I still had two masks by the time I entered the Death Route, so I felt it was worth wasting a couple of seconds to get the third one which allowed me to run straight through all of the nitros. After dropping down to the final part of the level, I waited again for 2-3 secs for the invincibility to wear off so that I could grab the last mask and have a clear run up to the finish. Ended up with a time of 1:25 which I'm more than happy with.

I did this on 100 attempts before I could actually complete (Mostly due to those annoying stairs) but I actually found the death route to be faster if executed properly.

yes, the death route is much shorter than the side-scrolling part of normal level

I can't believe I got a Platinum Relic for this level today. Today I was only intending to get a better time for this level. And that was it. But after my times got better and better to the point where I was less than 10 seconds over the Platinum Relic time, I decided to take a look at what you did to get the Platinum Relic. I never considered taking the death route to be honest. But then I haven't taken the death route since I was required to in order to get that Clear Gem. It just never occurred to me that it would be faster. But thanks to the Aku Aku invincibility, I was able to slide all the way to the end of the death route without dying. I unfortunately wasn't able to get invincibility again after the death route, as my current invincibility hadn't worn off yet. But it didn't matter. My time is 1:31:26, beating the Platinum Relic time of 1:35:99, as well as destroying my former best time 2:00:50. This level and 'Sunset Vista' were the ones I was farthest from getting a Platinum Relic, apart from 'Stormy Ascent' where I haven't been able to get a relic yet at all. So I was surprised that I was able to get Platinum Relics for these two levels today. The reason I haven't obtained any relics for 'Stormy Ascent' yet is because I haven't managed to make it to the end of the level without dying. If I could make it to the end of the level without dying, I would at least have a Gold Relic for that level as of writing this.

@@qwertylello Your response was completely uncalled for. You could have just refrained from commenting altogether, rather than post a rude, unnecessary, and discouraging response. Not to mention this comment was posted 9 months ago. My comments on these videos aren't just for my own benefit. But for the benefit of other players that may be struggling to get the Platinum Relics and haven't yet tried doing what I did to get them.

It's faster to run with speedy shoes than doing the high jump glitch. The glitch is quite useful though, in many situations were you have to navigate around obstacles or jump around pits you can just make a high jump glitch and get across way faster.
