Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is a platform video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation. Taking place on a fictional group of islands near Australia, Crash Bandicoot 2 follows the adventures of the anthropomorphic bandicoot Crash. Crash is abducted by series villain Doctor Neo Cortex, who tricks him into thinking he wants to save the world. Crash is thrust into several parts of N. Sanity Island in order to gather Crystals that will allow Cortex to contain the power of an upcoming planetary alignment and keep the planet from being destroyed. Crash's sister Coco and Cortex's former assistant Doctor Nitrus Brio try to warn him about Cortex, with the latter urging Crash to gather gems instead of crystals. The game went on to become one of the best-selling PlayStation video games of all time and replaced its predecessor as the highest-selling Western title in Japan at the time, selling more than 800,000 copies in the country by April 1998.

Given it was done at the same location- makes a whole lot of sense actually! :D Though Mark Mothersbaugh did the music for Rugrats- lots of the equipment used would have been at the studios- so sharing sample ROM boxes etc would make a whole lot of sense~ I wish when I had contact with Josh Mancell way back I had asked him if he remembered what kind of equipment was used~ Hindsight eh?@@mattbegay1354

These are way better than the N.Sane Trilogy versions. They should've just used these. Josh Mancell even reached out to them but they never replied.

Well screw them for that one ! Man wants to have fun remaking his own work but they refused and gave us shit But ofc not everything they did was bad Some songs sound good in the remake

The N Sane Trilogy verbose of all music is the 3 crash games are way better.

so i’m curious as to the pre console and post console versions of these songs. i’m assuming they’re composed before being implemented into the game. did josh have to scale them down before they got put in the game or is it the being on the PS1 the thing that’s scaling it down. i ask because i have a lot of these instruments some of which were ripped right of my PS1 disks and can use them but they only exist as the post console lower quality versions of these instruments and not the higher quality versions like in these songs. did he have to recompose these songs with these lower quality instruments?

This is pre console, meaning that this is the raw song. No compressions. While in game you'll hear a compressed version due to optimization.
