Hello Wasteland!
In this first episode of my new series, Crash Course, we look at a quick and cheap way to base your miniature bikers on clear acrylic.
This series will be videos focusing on effective and easy techniques you can apply to your wasteland hobby projects. In future expect plenty of videos on different materials, tips and tricks you can use when working on your car game toy cars.
Special shout out to Fluid 3D Workshop, their bases can be found in the link below.

I like Hotwheels motorcycles, even if they are bigger. I dont want to see a 3rd gear bus passing my 6 gear 200 mph motorcycle. Even if the bus loses 3 turns, it will eventually pass up to a tiny bike. Bigger bikes, smaller buses work good. Scale will work only if you adjust the length of the acrylic bases accordingly.

I use my wife's clear nail polish and put a drop on the axles to lock the wheels for semi-permanent fix.

Very interesting, that link could be very useful as I was on the fence on how to base my bikes...

The WW2 German motorcycle probably isn't a Tamiya model; I think it's more likely from Italeri set 612. That 1/72 scale set includes 2 bikes, 2 bikes with sidecars & 16 figures (riders, pillion passengers, sidecar gunners etc). I realise that leaving a comment almost a year after the video went up might seem a little strange; but hopefully it's helpful for someone.

No bases here. Use some solvent to “slow down” my wheels. The solvent kinda melts the tire onto the metal spindle. As a result the car won’t roll freely, but will roll when you push on it. Hope that makes sense.

It makes sense ;-) I guess I just prefer a bit of free wheeling to my cars :D

0:56 maybe Robert Sinatra needs to wash his hands and trim his nails more frequently. And clearcoat his work... and put a drop of glue on those axles. ...Hey, he asked for 'based' right? :D

Sadly, I don't use motorcycles in my Gasland games as they are too hard to find locally. However, aren't the bases for motorcycles supposed to be 20mm x 30mm? I thought I read that in the Gaslands rules somewhere.

Bill Cedarheath probably to be fair. I just went for something quick and simple, but I'm sure there are 20x30 bases on eBay by the same people 😉

I loved it, it is hard to find postapo at this scale, I subscribe because I also believe that we share hobby and taste, I have a channel in which I do something similar although from scratch.

I like having bases as a standard cause it keeps certain builds from being to "op". The extra long limo with side mounted weapons is just too good because of the shear amount of range it has.
@jhminiatures7867
@jhminiatures7867 4 жыл бұрын
That's a fair point. However, I disagree for a number of reasons 😂 not all cars are created equally, bases restrict the amount of customizing in a build, and that metas and OP builds change. The first ever UK Gaslands tournament was won by a Miyazaki team with performance cars and almost no weapon upgrades.

I mean, I know some people just glue their wheels. To each their own.

@@jhminiatures7867fare. But with the size for bases listed in the rulebook there should be more than enough for pretty much any build at this scale that isn't too cheesy. Obviously casual games are what ever your mates agree to, but a simple standard for competitive play for size would be nice imo

I made a pool about this on the FB, when team no base but fixed wheels won. Also try smaller bases.

Matchbox & Hotwheels cars Were never intended to be toys At all Thay are Actually 1.64 Scale Automobile Replicas Not Toys Their First perduction Begain During the Depression era in the USA built For Adult Men to Collect and Customize And due to the fact that most men at the time Loved Automobiles but could Not afford full scale Automobiles So to boost murality at the time the Mettal Medal Factory Decided to build Small scale Automobiles Small enough to fit inside a Match box for use as a Garage This is how they became known as match box cars because just about every man had a empty match box his pocket however Most Men didn't even have a home at the time let alone much money if any so What The Mattel Factory did was Build 1.64 Scale high quality Automobile Replicas That every man could afford to oun and Collect sale and traid Automobiles So the first perduction run was Sold in stores for a Single penny That is why they Have Rivets instead of screws And later in perduction some have plastic chassis with metal body's and others have metal chassis with plastic body's depending on the vehicle design and it's compexidy and with the Need for Hotrods and custom cars begining In the later years of the 60s early 70s Hotwheels were born with the 1968 Chevy Camro redline edtion Which when it was originally Sold in stores For a Nickel Now it's worth $1,000,000 US.Dollars Also Things are left unpainted to Alow it's new owner space for detail work and to be able to Customize his own Collection of Fine Automobiles the way He prefers and this also keeps the Manufacturing cost to a minimum also Still to this day thay are built for the exact purpose of Adult Men Ounership And Whom ever conciders them to be a toy Completly misses the point of a match box car they are Not Toys They are just Smaller 💯✊🤘✌️😎🛠️🏁

That's...One heck of a history lesson 😂 I'd have to check the origins of matchbox, but I can believe that! Although I'm pretty sure Hot Wheels were intended to be toys for kids, just the name is more evocative of a children's brand. But anyway, thank you for the support man 😂 bravo!
