Fun facts; Dana Andrews made propaganda movies during the war as part of the First Motion Picture Unit. Andrews often played various sailors in; CRASH DIVE. DECEMBER 7TH. THE FROGMEN. IN HARM'S WAY. WING AND A PRAYER. You might not recognize a young Harry Morgan, billed as Henry Morgan. Morgan played COL Potter in MASH. Tyrone's full name was; Tyrone E Power III. His son's name was Tyrone Powers Jr. Powers rose up the rank of MAJ in the USMCR. He was a pilot who flew in the Pacific theater. Powers was only 44 when he died from heart attack. Andrews was 83. Morgan was 96.

In the 50's & early 60's my father was stationed on a sub (USS Sailfish) in New London. Brought back memories, went to two elementary schools and a high school in Groton. Was a good movie, thanks for posting it.

This was a great movie and I loved the characters. The thing is that today the star male character would be charged under the MeToo movement. He would be considered as harassing the woman. The No Means No rule would have brought the police and a court martial. All kinds of charges would have been brought against him and he’d be in the brig and not be able to show that he’s the bright and debonair man that he really is. He’d face a heavy fine, loss of rank, loss of pay and quite possibly drummed out of the military.

Sub following the tanker in past the nets reminds me of the movie Torpedo Run, Glenn Ford.(1958). Another great movie.

I spent 8 years in the Navy and I admit now knowing sh*t from shinola about sub tactics but…..would you really light the “smoking lamp” while sitting on the bottom and under depth charge attack? Wouldn’t you want to conserve oxygen?

You brought this up because? How about we all just forget about color of skin and concentrate on the people. Plus for you people that have no clue there are white African American people. Color means nothing. I am tan and most African American people I know are brown not black. So until all this stupidity stops on both sides nothing will change.

Okay, I see what happened now. This is some really BAD filming and editing. I was completely unaware that they had switched between Tyrone Powers and Dana Andrews between scenes. That’s very sloppy filming and editing. Literally, you blink and you miss it. The script is bad and sloppy here too. Yeah, they effectively torpedoed the movie with this love triangle garbage. I’m out! And I want a refund for subjecting me to this nonsense smut! I can only imagine the potential reaction and backlash this could have generated in 1943.

Fun little romantic war drama / comedy. I understand that this was filmed in 1943, but there are several scenes that come off as seriously "hokie" such as that lame, flimsy idea of periscope. Actual periscopes were large, heavy and operated inside a a well casement. Also the notion of a US submarine on general patrol in the mid-Atlantic just happens to come upon neutral shipping, surfaces and insists on boarding her for an inspection is more than far-fetched. As it turns out to be a German raider, which the sub commander allows her broadside to face him while stationary in the water, it is absolutely silly that the sub was not struck multiple times by shell fire. Even one well placed shell would have prevented her from submerging and been her demise.

I wrote that today with the Me Too movement and the No Means No movement he’d be arrested put in the brig and face court martial. Loss of pay, hefty fines, loss of rank and quite possibly serious jail time. He’d possibly be drummed out of the military for multiple offenses. But great movie.

Well, if the guy was as smart as they say, then lets see the internet has a lot of ways to help him out, and Trump's own bullying threatening language ways may have helped as well. So, there doesn't look like there were others.. It appears that no one can believe that this kid may have been deeply conflicted by the apparent bullying he experienced in his life. He doesn't appear to have had any outlets to talk about his conflicts and maybe his own confusions of what he would see in Trumps bully like language and the people around him following Trump. It also looks like a suicide by police
