Brake till the point you reach the bump to slow yourself down and right before you hit the bump, accelerate. That way, you're slowing down as much as you can and at the end of it you have your suspension expanded to its full potential to absorb the shock from the bump. In this case, I had very little reaction time to brake, which is why I opted to accelerate. Mind you, I did that only because there was no traffic right ahead. A lot of variables can cause different circumstances and different decisions.

Example - Tomorrow is the exam and even though I have prepared for it, I am extremely anxious about it. So I am "worried" and thus essentially increasing my trouble by being mentally freckled before the trouble even presents itself to me.
