I can tell you what’s going on , when you maiden a new aircraft you don’t loop and roll it, you don’t pull multiple g’s on it. You fly it straight and level, you test the landing gear retracts, you test the Ailerons and flaps, you test the elevator and rudder and most of all you check the trim and range test it. That plane was doomed before it took off.
@mopatop39215 күн бұрын
Those tests wouldn't have found the weakness in the wings. It would have folded on the next flight or the flight after. This plane was doomed but not because he pushed it on the maiden.

So basically you're saying the plane will get stronger the more it's flown. Which is rubbish.

Seems like some very high G maneuvers. Don't know why the plane was flown so aggressively. I wouldn't have flown a $400 E-jet that hard on a first fight. Flying an aircraft this large needs to be more methodical than just going up and going right to the limits of the envelope. Sorry, but in my arm chair opinion it was a pretty unsafe flight. At 2:50 of the video is when I thought the wings would fold, man that was a lot of stress on that wing. An aircraft that large also needs a stepped approach to high speed. Flutter is a big issue on such a large aircraft.

@GhostRyderFPV3 жыл бұрын
Any area one would fly an RC aircraft of any type, especially in this jet's post-unscheduled-disassembly state, is rife with "pit falls that can claim the entire craft permanently" . Lest one can alleviate the dangers associated with "ground". That statement invokes Flat Earth levels of disdain from me. As an FPV flyer, ("pilot" is too gracious a term, while "builder/crasher" sounds crass), a part of me agrees with your insinuation that there should have been a camera onboard. Because there should be a camera on everything. My quads. My planes. My helicopters. My dog. All FPV. However, if my FPV dog's leg fell off, I'm not sure my Eagle Tree tracking station would save him. Poor dog. Also, why aren't my habits your habits? I don't think a previous event caused stress that ultimately led to failure. I'm fairly certain that the Unrestricted Climb, or Zoom Climb, and stress induced created a more acute failure, as the bending moment and shear loads from wing to the fuselage are incredibly high during the transition to vertical. If I were to guess, the model was built overpowered, and probably heavier than what it's spar was designed to tolerate. So faster, and heavier, with the expected results, is my assumption for what it's worth. I love the idea of the 'chute. I saw it in another comment previously, and award that author all the credit you also deserve. It's a silly idea for almost every application I've seen it on, but this... Yes. 100% yes. Of course, there is the issue of water in this case, (and everywhere else in this State, but as you pointed out that danger assumed by the guy with the transmitter, amirite?). "Common place" and "to be expected" does not absolve consequence. It wasn't a good defense when I was four, when I was taught the story of not following a group off a bridge. Jim must have had a spar experience, like me. They do tend to fly loose without 'em. Once. ô¿ô
@qq-hk2sq3 жыл бұрын
@@GhostRyderFPV This kind of follow up by the OP could have alleviated speculation altogether and I'm in full agreement with "not following a group off a bridge", because I was taught it as well. I was also taught to be careful, so as not to get the "You'll know better next time", speech. There are far more important things to labor about than internet testimony. I'm just pointing out as a manner of principle that something of that value is worth far better precaution than what it was afforded, especially given the small investment, relative to the potential risk of loss. Heck, a little foam filling in the fueselage to serve as a ballast so that it would at least float would have been worth it to me. Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, especially when you're least prepared for it. Get your car stuck on an old train track you've never seen a train on. There will be one coming that day. Appreciate the input.

That was a pretty aggressive first test flight. A few laps with the gear down and a subsequent once over would have been more prudent IMO. At the 2:48 mark, there is a pretty hard pullover and resultant high wing loading. I'll suggest this is where it stressed the wing spar and then the following pull up from the dive at 10:04 was the final straw. Hard to watch all that hard work (and cash) meet it's demise.

Hobbies cost no matter what .my former father in law was a pilot he was building an amphibious pusher for retirement .the kit had a flaw that cost 3 owners lives .he cut it apart,rebuilt the wings with corrections rebonded them to the plane and donated it to the local aeronautical highschool to finish and auction off, took a tax rightoff

Everyone spending so much money on rc planes really should make an emergency parachute for moments like this! I have made one for my 1k plane, it has its own battery, servos and receiver independently from rest of the system and it really worked when my plane's battery connector came loose mid air (it was my fault) and the plane was uncontrollable. One push of a button and I saved my plane with minor damages.

@@humbertoandrade6367 I don't fly planes that are that expensive but still would be interesting for me to save a plane, can you explain to me how you made your parachute system?
@humbertoandrade63673 жыл бұрын
@@adelaseeri768 Unfortunately I do not have pictures, I built two small compartments with two opening systems, the first was driven by a servomotor, the second was mechanical, connected with a thread to each wing, if one of the wings breaks, the thread opens the compartments with the parachutes, I built two compartments, because in the first test the parachute broke due to the speed, in the second test the first parachute slowed down and the second did the job
