Another cracking video with usual great quality Jamie, very informative, packed with lots of little titbits. I'd really love to see you do a video (here or Matrix) on setting up from start to finish, and why you set up the way you would on feeder, float, pole, and on different venues. There aren't any videos on KZfaq that have covered this and I know a lot of people struggle, especially when there's so much you can put on your box now. Great tip too, a pole sock set horizontal makes an amazing cup holder! No more stainless coffee mugs or flasks lost to the river or lake!

Another brilliant video Jamie, for those who don't fish much or are unsure about the method this is perfect with everything explained, A couple of things I do differently is use a bait runner to stop violent takes smashing me up and I occasionally use a flying back lead or hollow lead leader to pin it down I hate using leads to pin it down as it can make a weak spot, Keep up the great videos Jamie👍👍👍👍👍

Very good vid. Must say, things have certainly moved on from when i started fishing. I started at age 14, now 66; don’t normally like new fandangle things, but i have bought the ics range, have had some good days, very similar to the ones you use. Just use wetted pellets and hook bait, simples😀

Great equalizer.,takes a lot of skill out of fishing,it was at one time banned on all waters but money talks both for the fisheries and tackle manafacturers,but each to their own ,I know many of the old school hate it.

Hi Jamie great video as always I notice you been using a ridge feeder arm instead a normal extended feeder arm are there many advantages to using a ridge arm or is it just your preference mate all the best jamie
@CatchFishingChannel
@CatchFishingChannel 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matthew mate and thanks for watching! I only use the longer arm when I'm fishing a 12'+ rod mate or if I'm on a river. It just gives extra stability with a longer rod especially if it's windy. But when I'm only fishing with 11' rods the shorter rigid one is perfect mate. Hope that makes sense?

New to fishing this year and only been feeder fishing a month or 2, is it effective in the heat? Saturday is meant to be 29 degrees and I fish in ponds with a fair amount of carp and silver fish (from Scunthorpe I think you’re fairly close)

Those pre-tied Matrix method hair rigs are made with some awful line. It's 0.20 line which should be around 7lb, I tried 3 from a pack I bought, 1 snapped under hardly any strain and lost the fish, both the other 2 managed to land the fish but then snapped, weighed each Bream and neither was even over 3lb. Buy good hooks, line that you can test and verify the strength of, then tie the rigs yourself.

Does I matter what type of feeder you use, eg 50g feeder on a 50g rod, I mean for loading the rod, is it easier to break a tip with a lighter feeder than heavier because the rods not loading, but the tip is?

@fayetodd6511
@fayetodd6511 5 жыл бұрын
Chris Girling get yourself a back-rest that grips the butt of your rod, as mentioned in the video, there's a few companies that make them, they're cheap and effective, I'd recommend the rock steady back rest by bank bugs, it's a different design to most others and not as cheap as some but a great piece of kit. I often fish TWO method feeder rods together and sometimes I've been playing a fish on one rod and got a run on the other, but if the second rod is firmly secured by the back rest I can just get on with landing the first fish before picking up the second rod, hopefully with the fish still on the line

What hook link would you recommend for carp 4 to 8 lb +.I tested my method feed with a 8lb hook link and it always flips the hook and bait out of the method .
@MrEREDIT

Hi Sme sme I use a 8lb(0.21mm) main line with a 5.5lb(0.17mm) hooklength. As long as you play the fish right and don't bully it too much shouldn't have any issues :D
