Meet Skeeter Ray, the Godfather of the bayou. I found this human national treasure through a long search online to find the perfect person to show me some cajun food. I landed on his doorstep and it felt like home.
Join me, Skeeter, Squirrel and my videographer Bryce as we cook some Crawfish Cajun style with Skeeter Ray's secret technique!

Louisiana is like 2 different states and 1 country all together. You have north Louisiana, which is your traditional southern. South Louisiana is your Cajuns and creole, like skeeter here. And then New Orleans is like a different country all it's own, it's a mix of the best of Louisiana with a sprinkle of the the rest if the world on top.

I’ve made mistakes in my life, and yes I watched the whole video and he does seem like a very nice man but drinking and driving causes so many deaths to not just grown adults but children. That’s sad. That’s like you or me dying at a young age and never getting to even realize what life really means all because a driver decided to get behind the wheel while he was under the influence. My dad was killed by a drunk driver when I was 14 years old. I know first hand of this.

An important distinction these days is that we stopped listening to our elders, in our tribal/clan days our elders would be coveted for their wisdom. A thing we've forgotten how to do in the modern age it feels like, everyone is so busy trying to get shit done that we rarely ever find the time to sit down with an old timer & listen to their valuable lessons. What a wonderful man, so enriching, generous, kind & full of lessons to teach. I wish I could fly over the ocean and sink some cold ones with Skeeter.

As a cajun I can't say I've ever seen a full can of corn go into a crab boil pot. I'm guessing he came up with that so its easier to eat them on a cob. Only thing this boil is missing is some whole garlic, celery sausage 😋

I live here in the most unique, glorious and original state in the country, my Louisiana it's like a whole other world. So very, very proud of living here because the people here so friendly, happy and caring for each other and the traditions, the rich, rich history of this state it's second to none. Our dialect has it's own flavor too. Speaking of flavor, You've come to the right spot for a delicacy only found in our great land. The wonderful mixture of our culture, traditions and our one of a kind architecture found not only in New Orleans but through out makes for a rich Gumbo of the tastiest kind, truly Louisiana has no equals and it's second to none. ⚜️

I worked on a drilling barge in Louisiana this past year and I can confirm the laid back vibes are real. The only thing better than the vibes is the food. I could barely understand my rig manager because his accent was so thick. I great experience with the culture and the people.

It doesn’t get much better than a good old fashioned southern crawdad boil and this man is a master. My brother is a towboat pilot, he has worked for Ingram barge company his entire adult life. He invited me to one of their company crawdad boils many years ago and it was instantly my new favorite food.

Great job. You got to see what Louisiana has that is truly unique. I have met many Skeeters growing up here, but it took this video to make me appreciate it. Like you said, there are good people everywhere. But I needed to be reminded of that. It was nice to see it from a different perspective. A couple of cases of beer will go a long ways on the Bayou. Just don't run out. lol. Thank you for coming down.
