It's a rare thing in the Canyon where an ICFTW does start from a kit, or more often, a bunch of parts in a bin. Volume 31 is the process of turning the 10.3 CJ-7 into a vehicle capable of crawling rocks. And away we go.

Really enjoying what you are doing here. Following this series intently. Just toased some Injora deep dish wheels and front brass clamp rings in mone. Definitely widened it a bit, but not to any extreme. Tekin T35HD is something I have laying around so ill definitely be using that instead of it rotting in a box somewhere.

This J-7 just screams throw some scale goodies on me, but also needs better stability, I figure once I get it top heavy with all the scale goodies I can work on suspension, also debating on not throwing in a fusion or firma 2-in-1 system because I already know I am leaning towards scale trail rig,. Looking forward to how your build ends up and probably apply some of your tuning to mine. Thumbs up this is looking to be a great series. 👍💯👍💯👍

One of the other channels...(adventuretimerc) just modified the same jeep so the hood does open. So yes....the fake motor can be seen after easy mod! Great show sir.

On the one hand, interested-- but only if I move the battery to the front, and on the other hand-- concerned, because now the entire body is basically being held on by the front fenders. This is something akin to when people doing "home improvement" just cut through a joist. Maybe it won't make a difference.

Probably not the best thing for a rig that lives in the Canyon. But it is a option that can be modified or supported by anything and everything available to the crafty mind. Love your show! @@CrawlerCanyon

I know what's wrong. You haven't thrown enough money at it.😂 2300 fusion pro, 3Bro G13 servo, 3Bro 2stage antifoams, ssd steeles wheels with brass ring upgrade. Factory tires. The biggest improvement was 8260 traxxas shocks, traxxas orange dot springs with 80wt oil. It acts like a sway bar. Keeps the body roll under control while allowing full suspension flex. Great for crawling a little rough for trailing. It's impressed me and my friends for it's capabilities of what it is.

That stupid thing looks so good. Maybe it’s worth the $200 up charge for the body bc it seems to be pretty unanimously adored even though the performance ain’t great…

I feel the 10.3 platform is hated on unnecessarily. It just takes some time and tuning to get them performing. They always use such heavy bodies on them. They perform alot better with some weight reduction.

Great video, nice truck, great review, just got mine. One question Injora inserts on stock tires, do we need to put your adjustment ring to fill out tire?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 7 ай бұрын
I wouldn't think so. The Baja Boss are only a tiny bit wider than the Toyos internally. The insert won't fit quite as well width-wise, but height should be perfect.

Similar to my outcome but I left the steering servo for now. Added 2300 Fusion and a shift servo for trailing. Changed pinion to a 12 tooth. A set of new Canyon Trails on Treal wheels with extended hubs giving -5.5 offset vs stock offset of -1mm so 9mm wider overall plus added width of tires. Gone to 90mm Traxxas shocks. This has transformed this from what it started as. With the battery strap holder cut off of the left side battery tray I have no problem fitting the body on with a Hoovo 2200mah battery

You may know but there is also a speed switch on remote at bottom. I noticed yours on high if you want vehicle slower. These are so fun cause the scale side takes more planning lines. Love them. Desert lizards are way to go to keep torque twist and rolling under control. Just takes away from the scale look of suspension travel

"speed switch on remote at bottom"?? On the radio? (sorry, newbie here)

@rj308 yes the spectrum dx3 has a 3 position speed switch on remote on the face at bottom. I'm sure the jeep has this function cause the early bronco does. Everything is same besides body

Thanks Grim, Im guessing you mean the "TH LIMIT 50/75/100" switch on top panel. I'll try it. Wish he gave more detail on the program card model etc. and how to use it b/c the drag brake does suck.

Is there room for a 550? That might get you enough torque with the stock rESCeiver.
@JPWirt

I had a 550 Crawlmaster Sport in my Bronco before changing to a Fusion. I'd recommend attaching the motor leads at 90°. It's tight if you run the front motor cover.

This is like if my ex got a boob job . I want to play with the new goods but the chassis still the same lol. Can't do it. Just can't. I got the divorce for a reason. I'm just gonna watch u play with this rig and hopefully my desire for it goes away 😂

I feel like a little bit more width would help without taking away the nice look of it (small hex extensions maybe?) Curious about what the full build price is going to be, definitely not cheap if you start by 500 bucks RTR and then have to replace half of it, but its going to be fun
@CrawlerCanyon

I'll have to tinker with some other wheels to see what the front bumper clearance looks like. Maybe just lop the "ears" off the bumper entirely? This guy would gladly accept another 10mm or so of width, to to keep that bobbly body under control.

rear spring is ran heavier to control the chassis, not specific to % of weight on axle. needs rate up in rear. rear insert a tiny soft in those tires, but try on tire he will actually run. Maybe just a few tuning rods in insert lol. COG is killing it, too high heavy body definitely causing it. Like the slow build and try changeup format. clearance the axles for more steering ?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 7 ай бұрын
I don't think I've ever heard you say an insert was too soft before-- and those are uncut blues. The Toyos are staying on here, unless the owner says otherwise. They look perfect. It is truly difficult to work around a 1.4lb body.
@lastcreations8845
@lastcreations8845 7 ай бұрын
@@CrawlerCanyon dont think i have said too soft! lol maybe stiffer rear spring, lower cog alot and move weight forward it will be ok, under drive load and or alot of weight transfer rear insert collapse to like 1/4" or so tread to wheel, like to see closeish to that in front inserts :)

It looks like Axial originally had these at around $550/ $560 when announced, then quickly changed to $499 at launch which is interesting. I guess they originally planned to really make us pay 💵 if we wanted a licensed CJ! Still for $500, just give us the 1080 speed controller. This unit should be stock on all $400 and up RTR from axial/ horizon !
