Suggested in the comments, ordered from the internet, tested WAY too thoroughly, and what we got is... ABSOLUTELY a result.

These are one of my favorite tires, thanks for reviewing them. They are under rated. The foams kind of suck though. Some people remove every other lug in the center too.

So glad you tried them. Enjoy them on a slightly stiffer than factory foam. I really think you should try them on Argentum. Deep Woods respond quite well to dig because of their oval contact patch. They suffer from packing issues and they aren't the best in wet, so if you like them now, just wait for a sunny day. 🤙

Even my 3 years old often riverrocked Duratrax Deepwoods (Louise Champ) with hairbun foams gripping so well with rounded and wear out knobbys.

I knew the Deep Woods would perform well cause i have them, now I'm going to get the Show Down's for one of other rigs. Keep up the good work.

I really like the tire reviews with different tires so you can see the difference between them. Only thing you forgot to do was run them backwards! Good stuff keep it up.

Does it help when you run them backwards?

I have deep woods on my scx10ii. Put them on this winter. Haven't run them much. Looking forward to this summer. I didn't like the way the foams fit with my beadlocks..Ended up trimming them to fit better...

Been working my way through your Duratrax back catalogue. Thank you for your hard work. A set of deep woods arrived today! But that’s beside the point. I’ve got a “from the comments” question: people often use different shock oil front/rear, different spring rates front/rear, and different inserts front/rear. Why have I never seen anyone use different tyres front/rear? Would you like to be the first…?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 4 ай бұрын
For a good while, we had a couple of rigs running different tires front and rear-- Diablo and the Colonel spring to mind. It's usually an overdrive/underdrive thing, as some tires basically provide too much grip when heavily underdriven. Jolly Green also has 1.9 Scorpios on the front pair and 2.2 Canyon RTs on the rear four. Somebody used to run Hunks in the front and Holds in the rear, but I can't recall who.

Out of all the tires you have tested and money wasn’t a concern what tire and foam combination would you use?? I love you content and keep up the good work 👍

Tusk + Squidn'sert. The Canyon Custom inserts are great, inexpensive, and work under virtually every condition, but the Tusk with a 3D printed insert made specifically for it are about as good as it gets.

@@CrawlerCanyon Thank you sir!! I compete in WRCCA Pscale and Pro if Jconcepts would please make a Rupture in 4.65-4.75 that’s what I use. Now to find somewhere that has Tusk class 2’s in stock.

I love those tires, they are good on almost any surface, like in the snow ;) that's what I've put on my new vs4-10 ultra with injora 2 stages foam.
@CrawlerCanyon

I have a set of those Injora foams, and absolutely cannot recall what tires I put them in. Complete blank. So they must be working well enough. Certainly can't complain about the price.

Deepwoods are sweet tires. The stock foams they come with are too soft. I've found the best foams for them are the Crawler Innovations Deuces Wild single stage closed cell foams. Have you tried Duratrax's 4.19 crawler tire line? They look badass.

I'm always tempted by the Duratrax tires, but I'm trying to keep my tire collection from outpacing my rig collection by too much 😂. Currently at 4 sets for 2 rigs not including their rtr sets and 2 sets for my in-progress C1 build 😬. Telling myself no more unless they perform markedly better than Predator Hyrax, G8 TSL's or G8 Krawlers up here in Washington. And yet, I am thankful 4.75 Tusks are out of stock online because they are pretty damn tempting. I have a tire problem 😂
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 2 жыл бұрын
I can 100% relate to having a tire problem-- though I don't think it's full-blown until you have tires on hand still NIP, with no rig to put them on.🤣 I also have that whole no-ProLine thing, so I get to try all the "other" tires.

Re: Trail Grapplers. One of my crawling buddies ran a set of them. They didn't like rocks much, but show them a mossy wet log and they climb right up. Weirdest thing I've seen.

Were those BM Hustlers you tossed? Thought I would give them a shot on my Gen8 and pretty much everything was an unnecessary challenge. Have had the Showdowns on 3 different rigs and have impressed me everytime,, but didn't really 100% groove on the big mud lug look on The Scout. Thanks for the great comparison to help my decision with the Backwoods.
@CrawlerCanyon

Yep, the worst tires in the world, the Boom Racing Hustler. Meanwhile, the Deep Woods continue to be one of the best, especially at the price. I have the same relationship with Showdowns-- they just don't "fit" the look with a lot of rigs.

Put bm hustlers on my scale gen8 hardbody Cherokee build. They look good but that's about where they stop being useful. Woods and trail fine, any rock they don't hook at all

Great review! But, you've made my decision between Tusks & Deepwoods a bit more difficult. Which between those two would get your money for a second set?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 2 жыл бұрын
I honestly couldn't say. They're both very good, and have permanent homes in my collection, but at the same time I've yet to buy the same tire twice-- unless you count having Landmines in 4.19" and 4.75" as buying twice. I do know that the Tusks are usually a whole lot harder to come by. I think my next tire buy is gonna be Duratrax Scalers, as I haven't tried those yet. As much of a non-answer as it is, I don't know if I could choose between the Tusks and Deep Woods at this exact moment. I'd have to run the Deep Woods on the Phoenix and see what I think-- as nothing has been as good as the Tusks on that rig.
@JPWirt
@JPWirt 2 жыл бұрын
@@CrawlerCanyonas much as I'd like to try the Tusks, if there's not much between them, I'll probably end up going with the Deepwoods. 1) A lot of local guys run them and like them. 2) They cost less than the Tusks. 3) You've proven to me they work well on a variety of terrain, not just rock. 4) Maybe most importantly...the white letters!! 😎

Why not just place a 8oz weight attached to a servo that can be shift from left, center and right for side hill-ing, saves ya all the tire research. I did it on an old scx10 and it is basically cheating, kinda defies gravity, fun to mess with friends. The ol' rover body is making your life a lot more difficult than need be. But that is the absolute beauty of the hobby, to each their own. Would be boring if everybody ran the same rigs. Kinda like the power wagon belly dragged craze. Ha. I do appreciate your drive style, im a slow crawler and avoid wheel speed, only because 99% of breakages in 1:1 are from using wheel speed, so it's not realistic to just crawl using wheel speed on every obstacle.
