However, many Chinese people believe that the excessive openness of bureaucratic rhetoric during the Song and Ming dynasties was the reason for China's decline, as party disputes during the Ming dynasty severely affected the government's governance capacity and made it difficult for the central government to collect taxes from those who were wealthy and powerful. Taxes were imposed on the poor, resulting in government deficits and peasant uprisings. And these two dynasties were eliminated by foreign tribes, while the other Chinese dynasties declined due to their own military rebellions. Therefore, people believed that the previous dynasties were destroyed due to their own strength, while the later dynasties were destroyed due to their own weakness. The reason for China's transformation towards a literati state was because at that time, the military generals within the empire posed a greater threat than external enemies.

from what I know, he's a blind musician and can't tell when a ghost general asks him to play for a court of ghosts every night, but once the other monks found out, they wrote sutras everywhere except the ears, so the sutra made the body invisible to the ghosts but not the ears, so the ghost ripped them off as proof that he had really gone there.

The tale of Earless Hoichi! He was actually a blind biwa player who inadvertently performed and sang for the spirits of the defeated Taira clan, and they were so astounded by his talent that they decided to abduct and keep him. The monks that he roomed with wrote sutras on Hoichi's whole body, but they forgot the ears, so when the spirit tasked with picking Hoichi up appeared, all he could see was a pair of ears floating in the air. He ripped Hoichi's ears off to show his master that he tried to complete his task, and the monks found the poor guy bloodied and on the floor. He did become famous after that, so, silver linings, I guess :)

Human Rights Watch says that they have been used to indoctrinate Uyghurs and other Muslims since 2017 as part of a "people's war on terror", a policy announced in 2014. The camps have been criticized by the governments of many countries and human rights organizations for alleged human rights abuses, including mistreatment, rape, and torture, with some of them alleging genocide. Some 40 countries around the world have called on China to respect the human rights of the Uyghur community, including countries such as Canada, Germany, Turkey and Japan. Serving beef can get you killed? Why?
@user-yj8zw7hk6f2 ай бұрын
cause beef is a expensive meat (expensive because it has low feed to food conversion rate). Its very inefficient to produce beef and if eating beef is 'on trend' many more famines would have happened. this is why places that had banned beef in the past are often having bigger population today. the feed, field to grow feed for cows, space and time needed to farm cows for beef is enough to make more crop fields and produce more chickens, ducks, and even pork. And so naturally only the rich can afford beef and because they CAN PAY, its likely that a lot of the middle class will find ways to farm cows for beef. E.g. Buying fields to grow cows' feed, buying human food to feed cows. You dont even need 5 years to induce famine. So what if a cow brings in 1000 silver after a few years when there isnt much food left to buy in the market?
