On our recent trip to the Maldives, we had the chance to experience the brand new Ritz-Carlton Maldives at Fari Islands. During our stay, we checked out all the room types available on property including the Ocean Pool Villa, Beach Pool Villa, 2-Bedroom Pool Villa and the Ritz-Carlton Estate. We were in the “standard” room, an Ocean Pool Villa and after seeing a number of other room types, we feel like this is probably our favorite between the lagoon, beach and ocean pool villas. We were in villa #225 and that stretch of rooms is really a prime location. The Ocean Pool Villas have private walkways from the land to the villa, whereas the Lagoon Pool Villas are all connected by the long walkway. One of the advantages to the Ocean Pool Villas is there are no carts that come driving by. If you’ve been in an overwater villa before, you’ll be familiar with the sound of carts on the wood planks. The Ocean Pool villa configuration is really unique and we found it extremely private and enjoyable. On the sunrise side, as well, there are unobstructed views of nothing but open sea.
The two-bedrooms feature a rectangular shape and a large living room between the two bedrooms. Otherwise, the larger suites have the same style of bedroom.
Most of the villas are designed in a circular shape, with floor to ceiling and wall to wall doors that completely open up to the outdoors. Even the pool is shaped to match the circular design with an infinity edge to the abyss. The view is framed like a movie screen by a privacy structure designed to let beautiful light into the villa, while still providing a privacy barrier between the next villas. The king bed is the feature of the room, directly facing the view. The luxurious bathroom is behind the bedroom and features an open closet, indoor and outdoor shower as well as a double vanity with Bamford products. There is also a soaking tub in the bedroom that takes advantage of the stunning views.

wait so there's also a double bedroom villa over water right? not just the beach one??

Hi Joysun, that is correct! They have a two bedroom villa on land and over the water. They look the exact same in terms of shape and size. The overwater version is about halfway down the jetty (you can see it on Google maps if you turn on satellite mode). The only room type that is not available in both beach and overwater format is the estate. That is a land structure next to the jetty

i had a small doubt, What is the difference between an ocean view water villa and a lagoon-view water villa? and is one of them better than the other?

Hey! So the main difference is ocean water villas are actually connected to the mainland. We had one of those and we loved it. They have a private jetty to get to your room and they’re close to the shore. The lagoon villas are out on the big circular jetty you see in the photos. They are great but a much farther walk! So if you would rather be close to the main areas, I recommend the ocean villas. I hope this helps!

Firstly you need to know what is "lagoon". Most of Maldives islands have lagoon, that is the shallow body of water protected from a larger body of water (usually the ocean) by sandbars, barrier islands, or coral reefs. Water level in the lagoon normally not high and you can walk, stand. Right after the lagoon is ocean, very deep water area. So lagoon-view water villa is the water villa near the resort island, view to the island, lagoon or other water villas. Ocean view water villa is the water villa normally far from the resort island, view to ocean only, nothing in front of your view.

Hello, while you have a correct understanding of what ocean versus lagoon is, it’s actually not true at the ritz. The Ocean villas are attached to the mainland. The Lagoon villas are out on the circular jetty :). They are both technically in a lagoon. You’ll find different hotels call the room types different names mainly for branding reasons. Hope this helps!

@@anletravelyea…all the villas face the same view, which is the lagoon and then the edge of the reef and then the ocean. They’re the exact same view. The only difference is the lagoon is over deeper water versus the ocean Villa.
