I participated in the World Rapid & Blitz for the first time! After my experience with online chess in the fast time controls, I wanted to test my skills in OTB in the same time controls!
In this game I played against IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya from Russia. She's a super strong player with many achievements so far. The game went back and forth, and I was honestly super surprised afterwards to see the eval bar jump so many times. Goes to show how crazy blitz can be! Hope you like the video and I hope the ''illegal move'' situation is understandable after watching the video!
I'd like to thank:
- FIDE for organizing this event and allowing me to play in such a prestigous tournament!
- Alliance for making it possible for me to play in this event!
- PhotoChess (Maria Emelianova) for helping with recording my games! Please follow her at / photochess

Great win with the Burn-variation of the French! :) I remember us discussing a bit about the adjustment of the queen on c1. Now that I see the footage, it just makes sense to me: this is what can happen when in the flow of a fast OTB time control. There was no vicious will to break the rules; you just accidentally tipped your queen to c/b1¼ while in the process of pressing your clock, and you understandably wanted to adjust the piece. Maltsevskaya didn't seem to behave confused after this, rather just making sure that this was what the situation on the board was. It took a few seconds off her clock, but she didn't make a point out of it, and I think that that is the right way to respond to this. In this situation I likely would have done exactly the same as either of you did.

Greetings from Poland! :-) And congratulations ;-) I saw this situation before, but I didn't know exactly why she gave up. Now you explain me it clearly (I didn't know rule player needs to stop check with touched piece). Thank you :-) maybe some day I could play with you daily chess, even if it means execution of my pieces? ;-) Have a nice day!

11:05 Qc1 + is an obvious perpetual check. She also missed Nd5 at 8:24 immediately winning.

I do not understand why white did not want to exchange queens at the end of the 10th minute of the film

It’s blitz, there’s no time to calculate anything at that stage and to make such a big decision, you need to calculate. Especially in time pressure the strangest things can happen

although winning for white (sf14 analysis) , you can't calculate precisely in blitz . so she played safe

At 08:20 you kinda fumbled a piece, are there any rule around that as the opponent may have lost some time over the confusion, you went to put it back, they reacted etc?

I noticed at one point you could have gone Qb4+ with a double attack on the b pawn. Was it a poisoned pawn?

c3 will safe the pawns on d4 and b2 (now covered by the Queen on e2), and you have to retreat with a loss of time and white gets an initiative.

She can move a piece until she is holding it. She didn't leave the piece and moved it somewhere else.
