Imo the orb amp perk is great if you get it early. 4-5 levels gets you like 50% additional xp plus the duplication pushes it even more. You'll end up getting up to like level 50 by the end.

Spinky Winky is a fun one, you have to play very differently. I unlocked that character earlier this week and had a fun time playing for quite a number of levels. Be warned that the attack speed really slows down when you aren't moving, so it encourages you to continue moving as much as possible in as tight of a circle as you can.

The worms are incredibly good if you get them upgraded, enemy deaths wind up spawning up to 10 at a time and they can duplicate themselves on hit

It might be worth looking at the upgrades in terms of damage done per point of investment. If one upgrade does 300k damage, after you pumped 6 levels into it, and another does 100k, after a single level, then the latter might be a more efficient use of your levels. Also, keep in mind that the damage stats aren't timeweighted.

goobies is super fun, i've used blobbath artifact to try out different items just to find out what items turn into (like imploding turning into black hole and such) Not sure how I unlocked the 2x speed mode, but blobbath + speed mode is a quick way to test out some builds and get a bunch of points for unlocking the upgrades

I think meteorite worked a lot better last time because it would chain into the fire explosion skill, both of which had massive AOE on impact - on its own it seems kinda weak.

My advice is don't try to focus just on AOE or projectiles; you need both. The best AOE item is easily Fire, and I think the best projectile is Splinters. Crushed Ruby also gives you an insane damage boost.

Why are you saying the xp bonus has diminishing returns? It's a constant multiplier, it never drops in value. It actually increases in value each point because each point gives a bigger boost than the previous one. first is 5%, second was 7.5% if I remember your previous video right. Eventually a chance to double xp. That's like the opposite of diminishing.

Probably the wrong term for it, I mean how it's so hard to gain levels past 40 or so, so I'm not sure spending a bunch of levels to try to earn more exp is worth as much as spending the levels elsewhere.

It's diminishing in the sense that XP requirements will increase on an exponential curve, whereas XP increase is an additive increase to XP gained - therefore the effectiveness of increased XP also diminishes over time.
