One hell of a crushing cover by O’Keefe Music Foundation (OMF) students!
Tyler Halverson (bass, age 15) and Joseph Mintz (drums, age 13) keeping it tight at the back; six-string demon Eli Dykstra (age 17) cutting loose on lead guitar; and the one and only Kala Rose (age 18) unleashing her inner Janis Joplin on vocals. This is also Kala’s swansong - her final song with OMF, as she is now 19 and too old for the OMF program… but you can still listen to her and watch her perform with her own band, Saving Escape.

The sad thing is that this is the last music Kala will do with the O"Keefe foundation. She aged out at 19. She does have her own band, Saving Escape. Check them out!!

It actually really annoys me that so many others are "pop" sensations, and Kala is not known (outside of true music fans at least). The girl can god-damn sing. It may be her own choice to be under the radar, but fuck she deserves respect!!!

Kala is one of my favorite OKMF singers. Since she aged out she has her new band Saving Escape. They have some really great songs, but not heavy stuff. Ryme or Reason or Indego Road was the first ones I heard and was blown away with the soul and passion she has in her voice.

Kayla's vocals on this track reminded me of Miley Cyrus's cover of Say Hello to Heaven. It was part of the Chris Cornell tribute concert and I was wondering who the F green light it and how the Hell was Miley Cyrus allowed to sing this song. Cut to about a minute and a half into the song and I completely had respect for her and was transferred into a sniffling child. In my defense she channeled Chris on to her preference.
