I had a pet rock when I was a kid. Actually, it was four rocks glued together and painted to look like a football player in an orange uniform. I suppose it was a next-gen pet rock. Weird, but I really liked that little guy. He lived on top of my stereo set with the turntable for records and the eight-track tape player in the front. Ah, the 70s.

The Geese guards is actually an old idea a British General used back in WW2 for the same reasons. Geese are much harder to distract and keep quiet. Similarly to how farm owners have donkeys for their horses and alpaca for their sheep. Same with a goose for chickens. Natural protectors and guards of their flock. A goose rounds up and leads chickens and keeps time. When it's time to sleep the goose will round them up and lead them back in the coop.

A bit more on half-swording... European swords couldn't cut well with their tip and close to the handle which resulted in the part close to the handle often not being sharpened as much as the rest of the sword since that part was used to block the enemy blows. That made grabbing the sword in that part pretty safe, even when grabbed without gauntlets.

The last bit on reverse sword holding was interesting, made me think of old times when some swords were very cheaply made, they could be bent with the right muscle and pressure applied, and it would scare the fight out of some. Think of times when blacksmithing was a new thing and swords being forged were noticed more because swords were used before guns were.

I do wonder about those musical roads, how do they affect the life of cars? Do tires wear out faster, does your suspension break down faster, do small electronic connections and screws which aren't 100% alligned get loose over time? Whenever I cross one of those vibration lines they have installed when you nod off while driving to wake you up, the car makes an awfull noise as well as very notable vibrations like it is almost getting damaged, I'm assuming this level is very similar?

It's also done not just for a more accurate thrust or to thrust with a long sword at contact range, but also for added leverage. Many longswords (unlike so-called "longswords" from DnD and many RPGs, those are two-handed) aren't even sharpened all the way to the hilt but have an unsharpened length at least one hand wide near the handle, called a ricasso. That's not only meant to save work and make for a mechanically stronger sword, but also to provide a safe zone for half-swording. The "Mordhau" or "Mordstreich" (both mean "killing strike" or "murder blow") is usually done with gauntlets or at least sturdy leather gloves, and a sword featuring a crossbar (few short swords would qualify, but they're too short anyway). You hold the sword near the tip and near the middle and swing it like a hammer. Hitting the enemy on the head can cleanly take them out, or at least make it ring like a bell, which is very disorienting. Both moves became popular with plate armor, which can withstand an ordinary swing quite reliably, and has to be attacked (1) at a weak spot, or (2) with as much blunt momentum as possible to dent the armor and break bones beneath. In the latter case, hitting with the sharp end doesn't improve damage and even limits the momentum achieved (because the center of weight is close to the handle), and unnecessarily blunts the edge.

If they made the rumble strips play "Karma Chameleon" it would encourage people to drive under the speed limit so they don't have to hear it. On the down side, driving the entire length of that highway at the recommended speed might expose the drivers to a lethal dose of that song.

One of my more successful ones was to make a surprisingly tasty hamburger marinade the combined a lot of different things, namely, honey, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, steak sauce, ketchup, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, orange sauce, teriyaki sauce, hoisin sauce, stir-fry sauce, duck sauce, adobo, Cesaro All-Purpose Seasoning, McCormick's Montreal Steak Seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, Kinder's Buttery Steakhouse Seasoning, Chinese Five Spice, some Rib Rub, and possibly a little bit of Dr. Pepper as well. I am serious, in the right combination of ingredients, it is bliss.

In regards to the Reindeer, I would get in contact with the company that makes the reflective paint and have them put the reflective fluid into a clear tube collar. Then i would put that tube on my deers which would sit just under the head semi-tight enough not to slip too far down so that it lessens the likelihood of it getting caught on something, and then call it a day. Im sure plenty of hiccups would happen until I perfected placement but I would try anything to prevent a 4k annual loss of reindeer.

@achtsekundenfurz7876
@achtsekundenfurz7876 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. There's ZERO chance that hand-held lasers could focus (and track) long enough to melt the plastic surface. My guess is that (1) the lasers overloaded the CCDs badly (look at CCD photos where the sun is in view -- the whole line (or column) is taken out by its brightness) and gave the camera blind spots. Or (2) that they blinded the cameras temporarily, by throwing the brightness balance off, confusing the drone operators and forcing them to engage auto-landing mode.

10:00 On the multi-laser question. Lasers released to the general public do not generate any heat - not even enough to burn a single sheet of toilet paper. I suspect it was blinding the remote pilot and he couldn't see where he was flying.

I don't know about France, but in most prisons the guards don't carry guns. The risk from the prisoners getting ahold of guns is too great. That is why many prisons have guard towers where guards can safely have rifles that prisoners could never get at. So fake hand grenades would keep the guards from tackling the escaping prisoners.

Knowing how successful Musk has been, I could see his brain enhancing neurolink working, but this would invoke Murphy's Law as much as any mulit potential invention would.

15:00 This part made me remember that there actually is a danish animated info-film all about the 'history of the potato', including the stuff told here :D Nice little film ngl. XD It's called *'Eventyret om den vidunderlige kartoffel'* (The tale of the wonderful potato) and can be found on youtube. It's in danish tho. Not sure if there is an english version...

18:12 i had a "toilet renewable energy" system as a joke in grade 7 which was really similar to this design. Basically, the poo would fall down into a container, which would melt the poo, boil it, turn it into gas, compress it into a cylinder which could be used to run gas-based technologies

They have those toilets in London and they’re timed. It’s quite the experience watching everyone go by. Especially the countdown. The doors open if the timer hits zero. Then when you are done they seal back up and are totally disinfected. All set for the next person.

14:56 the same thing did the first governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, when he tried to introduce potatos to his people, as an easier and faster growing/harvest crop. just leave the cultivation part. he put guards next to potato carriages.

Actually, there is one crazy idea i mostly do in video games that suggest you find cover to heal up and fight from that works most of the time....that being rushing at the enemies head on while making sure to retreat when critically wounded or reloading. This works 50% of the time.
