The truth about being a tourist in Luxor, Egypt. Did you experience this?? It's a bit crazy in Luxor with all the scammers, especially near Luxor Temple.

You did very well in your walk-around, Janet. You have exactly the right attitude, being polite and smiling while firmly saying no. That's the best way, although of course it doesn't always work, as we know! The reception you found was absolutely typical, in my experience. They try to be very persuasive and accommodating, and one has to be quite firm to resist. I believe the tradition is for the first-born in the family to be named Mohamed, hence the vast numbers you come across with that name. The locals always find a way of distinguishing the names by use of nicknames, etc! Good fun video - well done!

Well, That's how sales work.. And it's annoying in all countries! I remember an American employee at an American Publishing company kept calling me every day for a whole week to make me publish my book there (in return of a big amount of money of course) I was annoyed but I wouldn't call her a scammer. Luxur is amazing, the temples there will make you feel like you are thousands of years back in time. I wouldn't miss that just because of the salesmen.

Beautiful people, I love the way you handled yourself!!! The way that you are being approached, is the way that I was approached at the Cancun airport by taxi drivers.. Hundreds of men screaming at me and approaching me to get in their taxi cab, after I had told all of them that I had a private cab already 😅.

4:10 It is not "welcome to Alaska" Lol 😆 The "Al" in Arabic, which means "The" in English, is sometimes pronounced as "la", le" or "lu" in some Arabic accents. So, the proper real pronunciation of Lu-xor in standard Arabic is in fact Al-uxor not Luxor! So, they are saying "Welcome to Al-uxor". Now, Luxor can also sound like it can be said in Standard Arabic but only when it is in the middle of a sentence like "wa Al-uxor" but because there is an "a" vowel in "wa" it kinda makes it sounds like "wa luxor".

I was disappointed with my trip really but they still have plenty of rebuilding to do as a country. I hope you enjoy your time there! 😁

Egypt is a nice country but unfortunately one thing annoy the tourists which are the seller and every person their insist on the tourist or forces him to eat , and to ride a horse , camel , toktok or Taxi , or if you only look at some stuff or things they stick to you to buy and if you ask about the cost of something they give you a cost too expensive and if you are a good in dealing and negotiation and have patience you buy it by only a quarter of its first price , for that reason you see many tourists say that he will not visit Egypt again although in reality he wants to repeat his trips more , we ask the Egyptians to let the tourists feel comfortable , and not to interfere with their freedom , if you depend on Allah for your livelihood whether from tourists or any other person , it will undoubtedly come but if you want to get it from scamming , i think you will put obstacles in front of a true permanent sustenance , it may be few , but it is continuous and with halal .
