Parts of the spine can be used as a bone breaker while processing game, but I think they are mainly to reduce weight or for looks.

I have a bunch of their budget folders. And they are quite impressive for the prices. this looks exciting, however. In that finish tho I'd want a black powder coated blade to prevent rusting...humidity here.

This is one of those knives that if Cold Steel had made it, or some famous knifemaker, everyone would be creaming themselves over it. So to me, that means it's good, and even better since we don't pay extra for a name on it.

@@WeAllJuggleKnives Yeah definitely nice. Say you noticed Schrade has started using AUS-8 and AUS-10 now? Apparently they changed owners again and are supposedly trying to fix some of the negative publicity they got in the past. They're priced in the $40 range so might be worth checking out

Yes indeed, I think I saw one called the Wolverine. I think Taiwan got a big shipment of AUS10, so many cold Steels, Schrades and others will be AUS10 now. I remember back when only Junglee was using AUS10.

I know Cold Steel basically bumped most of their old AUS-8 models to AUS-10 if they weren't getting the S35VN treatment, but I didn't realize Schrade had started too. It also looks like Schrade bough all of Cold Steel's leftover AUS-8 cause they got a TON of stuff out in that now, including a big Bowie and a big double edged karambit that looks like a bit of a reworking of their "Shasta McNasty" from a few years back. At $30-40 they look like they're aiming to kinda fill the price point Cold Steel moved up from when they stepped up their steels at least for fixed blades.

Probably is AUS10. I've noticed a big uptick in companies using AUS10, such as Cold Steel and Schrade. I think Japan produced a large amount of it and just shipped it all over Asia. Also, Amazon has a no questions asked return policy, so you can literally try one of these out and if it is not up to your standards in any way you can return it without loss.

Years ago, only Junglee knives were AUS10, but just recently it is being used more, I think Japan has produced more, a good thing! Now Cold Steel and Schrade also using it.

I got the knife just now. It's awesome looking and feels great in my hand. It is extremely sharp. In fact this might be one of the sharpest factory edges I've ever seen. Plus I am super impressed with the sheath. So far, I am very glad I got it. It is a very solid looking blade. I am going to carry it when I go hiking. The blade steel seems good, I'm not a fan of the Chinese design flourishes though. The handle removal screws are excellent, but how is that shape designed for a human hand ?? 🙄 I'll stick with BPS, but I do love the size !

I've had Eafengrow knives for years now, number 1 there has NEVER been an Eafengrow knife that has been worth more than $30!!! Number 2 rarely is the advertised steel actually the steel you get! Number 3 while this knife has a 6mm thickness in the handle the blade DOES NOT maintain that thickness, it's more like a usable 4mm maybe a tad more at the guard and a tad less at the tip. It seemed cheap to me, so I let it pass and I do NOT recommend it! It"s not as good as the older Schrade SCHF knives which are often less than half the price of this knife!!!
