Crazy on Autoharp

Me playing the timeless classic that crosses genres-CRAZY written by Wille Nelson, sung by Patsy Cline and many others. I'm playing it instrumental on this old Chromaharp that was given to me by Jane Murdoch RIP.
You guys, I am making an album and it's going to be awesome! The Cohen-Grappel autoharp endowment is funding it so it will be professionally recorded and produced. Some of my music friends are brave enough to go into the studio with me and we've got a wild ride ahead.

You obviously have a talent for this instrument I'm sure you've got a lot of other tunes in your repertoire I wish you would record some more of them for us out here to enjoy.

The librarian used to play autoharp and sing to us at our local library and this just took me back to my childhood ^_^

I just got my first autoharp in the mail, and this is a great example of a way to play! I hadn't even considered changing the felt to make new chords. You've helped me realize that there are many more possibilities here than I'd originally thought. I'm more excited than ever to learn this instrument now!

I suggest not messing with the chord bars any time soon. I learned that the hard way 10 years ago! My first autoharp was used, and the felts fell off and I thought "I can fix that myself!" Well it took a while to say the least.

Very very nice! I can hear the words in your performance. You minimize the 'twang' that is almost inherent in the "Harp".I play one too, so I know. My ( self taught ) method is with fingers and nails only. Using my finger tips, and thumb I can overcome that twang. Some folks are 'all about it' though. ANYway beautiful job on "Crazy" Some of my songs are here too in my channel.

i just discovered you! i bought an autoharp a few days ago and my tuning wrench is coming tomorrow, i am SO excited to start playing, especially now that i have heard how you make yours sing! i have a bachelors in music performance and i play guitar and ukulele so i am hopeful it will be smooth sailing. thank you for posting this, i hope you have a wonderful day!!!

A little late to the party, but what button combos do you use to get that diminished chord in the turnaround? Of do you cut your own felt to use as replacement dampeners to change certain buttons to different chords? It's obvious you're an accomplished musician on probably several other instruments as some of your synchopations can only be gained through playing swing, stride, boogie-woogie, blues, etc. Regardless, it's a very thorough, well thought out and constructed instrumental piece. Thanks! I added a C# diminished 7 chord. Not necessary but I just wanted one. That turnaround goes C, c#dim7, F, G7...and I also play this song on ukulele (and try to sing) so that definitely helped with this arrangement. Thanks again for listening!

@@nancywarren Not at all. Again, thank you for posting. If my understanding is correct you recut the felt to allow a C# dim chord? What button did you use? The OS Co. now has replaced 3 buttons to allow a couple relative minors for bluegrass. Years ago I accompanied Bryon Bowers on a few dates in and around Chicago and he carried 6 autoharps with him. He tailored each autoharp for a specific set of tunes. He would stack them on a table and use them for 3 or 4 songs. Then swap out the next one. All the best. EDIT: Have an arrangement of Ain't Misbegavin' in C. I use the same turnaround except use Dm7 instead of an F. The verse progression includes a D#dim as well. That would be a good one for you to take on.
