This type of flex, as long as the person flexing don't put me down for being part of what they spent on, is not only acceptable but praiseworthy.

@@sallylemon5835 I’m guessing neither of us is close to being wealthy. If we were guests at the wedding the flex wouldn’t be directed at us, but at other rich families who were invited. As an attendee who couldn’t afford a wedding like that in 50 lifetimes, I’d probably just feel lucky to be there. To an attendee who’d have to liquidate most of their assets to throw a wedding like that, I imagine it’d be kinda devastating. Just a guess though, I can’t begin to fathom how people this wealthy think and operate. The kind of flex you described is just poor people flexing on other poor people in comparison to this kind of wealth.

@elan8253 ай бұрын
They clearly don't want to share their wealth, though, otherwise they wouldn't be so rich. Yeah, nice that they were generous to their guests who were probably mostly from a similarly well-off background. But what about all the other people. You don't get as rich by paying people well or by giving back to your country. There's so much poverty in the world, hunger, humanitarian disasters, climate change; schools, hospitals and infrastructure that need to be build and maintained. Most people can't afford medicines and slave away in soul-sucking jobs despite automation. Meanwhile the super rich can fly people in from all over the world, build villages for their amusement, have fine dining and the best hotels. Where's the justice? Where's the outrage? No one needs this much money when most people in debt - or just one accident away from being in debt!
@davidmarvy67883 ай бұрын
But they become rich by taking advantage of people. If you're a business owner and pay ur employees anything under 10k a month you're a scumbag slave driver. A man can't provide for a wife and 2 kids on 50k a year, but employers will pay u 50k and expect u to be happy and work hard. 10k a month after taxes u can live in the suburbs and provide for a family. Kids can play sports/dance, 2 family cars, 1 vacation a year and 2k a month to save for emergencies. That's it, no Bentleys or Ferrari. No mansions or first class flights. 10k a month after taxes is a middle class lifestyle. U could do this with 5k a month in the 90s.

well.. Ur comment could literally be sarcasm as my family told me many many marriages like this is to brag and show off, many Asian people do that. It could and can obviously be generosity but you never know The true intentions of people. I rather would want 800$ thats meant for me donated to a legit and good cause (Unless I'm in a bad spot or sick) but by the comments im alone, its crazy how you can read the capitalism out of the comments from Paychrck to paycheck living americans. I feel sad

This will also greatly improve the general vibes of the wedding, as the guests were basically just enjoying a free vacation, everyone could just relax and be present for the happy couple. Good on them

They know they are blessed and the friends know that sharing the weath will bless all of their family and friends. It helps spread the blessing and wealth to all. This is generousity and kindness.

Wow, that’s the way to have a great wedding if one can pamper their guests like that. The rich family understands that everyone’s busy these days and the the guests took the time to come and wanted to show their appreciation.

It must be a blessing to have a friend like this. Not because money because how she takes care of you and others. All my "friends" I ever had was there because they need something from me. I always go out of my way sacrificing my things to help them. But whenever I need help there is no one.

Bro i went to a crazy rich indian BIRTHDAY PARTY and got the same treatment. They flew us out from Delhi to jodhpur and booked each guest a room in a fancy hotel which included breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and at the end of the party they gave us money, a coin made out of silver and a box of sweets. It was so fun there.

Even though they say they refuse gifts, you are meant to still give a gift. It doesn't have to match what they spent on you but something that's a symbolic gesture of wishing them luck.
@DanaWang3 ай бұрын
Yes but they would not take it at all like completely refuse any red pockets or gifts even if you keep asking them to take it

For non-Asian viewers or those of you who don't understand, this is literally just an Asian way of flexing and telling everyone that they're better than you and that there's nothing you can offer them that'll please them. Other crazy rich Asians in that circle now has to top that with an even crazier wedding with better gifts at a better venue if they don't want to lose face.

Being wealthy and generous are 2 seperate things. Doesn't mean rich people are not poor, some have poor character. And some poor are rich in other areas.
