Please ask your viewers to be cautious around Semi-Trucks. We are moving 80,000 lbs [and it takes awhile to get up to speed or slow down.] To be aware that the Truck Stops are just about the only Safe-Haven where we can Fuel / Have a Hot Shower and Meal. [RVs are Self Contained rolling homes] We aim for 600 miles a day. Which is 11 hours of Driving of our 14 hour day. We constantly put up with people who cut us off, won't let us change lanes [When We Are Required to...] I'm sure you and your viewers have experienced the same. If they use one of our valuable 75' spaces with a large RV, no problem. But, please don't park a little van in one of them. When we run out of spaces we [with the permission of the Mgmt.] use some of the secret spots on the edges [which some of your viewer have discovered.] Please be aware of how they are Parking so that they make room for a big-rig to park in front /behind them. We will Not park close to RVs [As we do with other Trucks] because if we bump an RV most of them will collapse like a deck of cards against our high strength steel and 80,000 lbs [possibly with a family inside.] Note... We also own RVs and follow the same guidelines. Also Please Note... It's a $1, 000 fine when we are forced to park along the Highway or Ramp. Thank you for all you do for the RV community.

My Tiffin bus had a lift stick lifted. Nothing worked to fix it. I finally went back to the control and wire harness connection. Un-clipped the harness and looked at connections are clean and etc. Then pushed the connection back together. Bang all 4 jacks stored since then. It shakes down the road until the next wire is bounced loss again

Glad y'all made it safe and sound. Praying y'all don't have anymore trouble with your jacks. We are weekend warriors with hopes of traveling more when our daughter finishes college. She is in WV now so we travel from Al to there. My dad passed in Nov this year and we went up to get her to bring her home before he passed and on the way there had a flat tire and on the way home had another flat tire. Made it both places safe the Lord was with us the whole time. Thank you for all y'all do and places you go. Love to see your adventures! As always praying for your safe travels! Semper Fi

Don't know how you guys keep the RV so clean all the time being on the road. Phil dumping the tanks reminds me of when I was at Whidbey, a neighbor stayed at a campground by Deception Pass. Tanks weren't draining right. So I took a look. His hose when down the pipe. So in my infinite wisdom, I pulled out about 10' of stuck hose. That's when you realize that about 3 other levels up off poop pipe let go and came out where I was. It was a very shitty deal for sure.

Our Phaeton blew a hydraulic line and the front slide would still go in and out but the jacks would not go down. The line had to be replaced. Thankfully we were on our way to Red Bay when this happened and it was fixed in the Tiffin Service Bay.

The best solution to the DEF issue is buy an older rv. I traded off my 2016 Palazzo for a 2010 Tiffin and was happy that I dont have to worry about the DEF issue. Engine runs strong , clean, and smooth.

I have found out from Tiffin ,that if your jacks don’t want to come up, spray the leg with WD40. I did this and the problem went away. Hope to do a meet up soon. We love your videos. Safe travels. PS I suggest when you plan to go to Alaska, you go with Fantasy Tours. We did in 22 and loved it. Dave& Deb

I've had two separate problems with my HWH leveling Jack's. First time was a failed master relay solenoid. I diagnosed and fixed that one. Second one was my keypad went bad. The system had a mind of its own. Everytime I tried to use it it did something different and weird. Drove it to Moscow, IA and the boys at HWH took care of it. Got a new MIOM module for free because they misdiagnosed it initially. I tried to tell them I suspected the keypad.

Voltage is very important on the HWH. Run the engine get the voltage up. Also, when you pushed you side button while the jacks were going up, it shut off the jacks power and that will need to be reset. One more thing, add a small amount, very small amount of WD-40 to the Jack stem, very light wipe once a week or so. They will go up much faster. That was a tip HWH gave me back in 2012 for my 07 Ellipse.
@shoerock1
@shoerock1 Жыл бұрын
I was informed by a Tiffin Tech that you should not use WD 40 as it could attract dirt. He recommends T9, which is what I have used for over a year. Depending on how many times you put the jacks up and down and with being FT RVers, they should be lubercated once a month. Phil & Stacy thanks for all your viedos and useful information. I'd be interested in what you discover from your research as I have the same Jack system.

Unfortunately less chains are participating on Jan 1. I will still use it. The year before our coach, Blue Bird deleted the double sided fuel tank fill. We can only fill on the passenger side, That's usually the 'dumb' pump. Took me a second to figure out how to work that pump. We have the same jack system. Had to reset it a few times last year. Last ditch they do have a pressure release button

Mine gets used a decent amount but that's because my whole family uses it my 3 kids/adults use it with my grandkids 7 weeks out of the year and we use it 4 weeks out of the year I worry when my daughter and youngest son take it because they are not to RV mechanical but myself and my oldest boy we can fix anything. I have had it for ten years now and have had only 2 problems: a black tank cable and my AC would not fire up but I found the problem in 15 minutes at zero cost, so I am blessed. I love my Keystone Vantage 4 bunks queen bed on the sofa and a queen bed in the front it is the perfect camper for a family of 5 and 2 friends I wouldn't even let our dog sleep on the dinette so I took it out and made a breakfast bar with 3 computer screens and it gave us an extra foot of the runway. In 4 years if I can find the right Country Coach ALLURE at like 32' 400 Cummins I will just give the vantage to the kids. And say see you in 2 years.

It's *so* frustrating when we have problems like that. Seeing that it can be just as bad for more seasoned RVers makes me feel less stressed about my own troubles. We had an issue today with water flow, and while we never actually figured it out, it resolved itself. It's always something! So we're a full decade older than the average RV owner, but we use our rig 13 times as much. At some point, we intend to put together a single "trip" in RV Trip Wizard, to track all of our movements, but until then, we don't really know how many miles we've towed this monster.

Not the same as your problem, but maybe help some viewer. I had a jack issue and of course, it was in the middle of nowhere. My jacks refused to retract. As you know, the transmission won't go into gear with the jacks down, so I was stuck. After running around I discovered if I "aired up" and put wood blocks under the jacks, then "dumped the air" it pushed the jacks up. Later, at the service center, they asked, "How often do you wipe the shaft with Silicone?" What? Huh?. They raised my MH until the rear wheels were 4" off the ground!!! (OMG!) and gave the shafts a good cleaning and spray. No more problems!

Another good segment thanks again. It happened at the last park we were at. Not completing our rv check list. We got ready to leave and the rv would not roll. I accelerated, heard a weird noise. Then realized I had not put up the jack's. Of course it taught us to stick with check list and you guys taught us not to trust the auto lift indicator alone. My husband will manually check those jacks from now on. In the meantime the jacks seem to be ok.

A few years ago, we had an O-Ring let go in our Georgetown Class A, and we couldn't retract the jacks. We had a mobile tech meet us the next morning and we escorted him on base to Desert Eagle (at Nellis AFB) and he found it was a $0.43 O-ring that had split. We were glad DEFC was able to accommodate our delay since we couldn't move the rig. We were back on the road, a day late and $160- short.

When these new systems come in for diesel engines, it was nothing but a huge headache. I was making not bad money until I bought a truck with a regen systems almost broke me. So I traded for a newer truck with the Def system as well. I lost 135000 bucks in 2 years of ownership. So that said I will never buy anything newer than a 2007 diesel powered rv.

Had a DEF tank heater failure last week in fairly moderate temps. While having the issue repaired, the tach said he was going to perform a regeneration to the system. He indicated the engine should be hooked up to the specific software to check the need for regen every couple oil changes. With 24000 miles on our 6.7 Powerstroke we were at 75 percent. If you allow the system to exceed 100 percent sometimes the DEF tank needs to be removed for deeper service. Never heard of this before so have your tech check for regeneration needs. Heater function repair was a grand. Removing the tank to perform deeper service would probably add another $500-$1000 Merry Christmas and happy RVing

Hey Hate to tell you but I know of at least 2 RV's that were $5m plus even 2 that where $7m There out there just not reported I know the one owner and it a pricey one. the base RV was $2.7M then add interior stuff high end. and Solar, Communications. That Microsoft Guy had one for $7m off road RV. I think $500K is the limit any one should spend on a RV. There are plenty of used RV's that are cheap and good.

I hate Tiffin jacks. I never had any issues with the jacks on my Palazzo. They are power up and power down and work fast. The tiffin is super slow coming up and yes I always visually check to see they are up as I dont trust the system. I recently got a message from Open Roads stating that the only truck stop my card is going to work at is the T/A. Loves never was a very good discount anyway.

I had the same scare with my jacks last year; difference was my control panel accurately reflected they were down but the panel was completely unresponsive. I ended up forcing them up by flipping the solenoid levers which should probably be a last resort but it worked! The shop couldn't duplicate the problem and they tried to tell me that I was doing it wrong with the engine running. I know some coaches may have that restriction but mine doesn't. They subsequently had intermittent problems but not since I changed the hydraulic fluid.

One thing to watch out for is running either the pump or the solenoid valves too long. A few minutes for the pump and then you need to let it cool down. The solenoid valves run when you hit store (for up to 20 minutes when the jack down warning lights stay lit). Hitting store multiple times can overheat them. I learned about overheating the hard way. I ran my jacks up and down a few times putting blocks under tires etc trying to get level. Then the leveling system quit responding. I checked and the pump was very hot. Next day leveling was still unresponsive but I ran one slide in and out a bit which proved the pump was working. A bit later (key off/on a few times) I got it working but to this day the leveling is a bit twitchy. As for manually releasing the jacks. I haven't tested but I have an HWH diagram (from manual came with rig) which indicates the jack solenoids are on the back side (opposite the pump) with the 2 outside (big ones) for the rear jacks and the 2 small ones at the bottom are for the front jacks. I have a 2019 RED 37BA which I would expect to be similar to your rig. Good luck with the jack issue.

Mechanical issues can be frustrating. It doesn't matter what style of rv you have. But, as long as you stay calm, cool, and collected, and don't let the glitch goonies to get your undies wadded, you can generally figure out what your rig is trying to tell you. And if you're still dazed and confused, Google It or you can make a post in your rig-specific FB group and then hope someone else has had similar situations and can give suggestions you may not think about to resolve the issue.

Just drove back from MS and the warning bell on the hydraulic system screamed at me for 3 hours until the outside temp got above 50 degrees. We don't have auto-level but I think I prefer the manual system, because if the auto level malfunctions going down the road - that's terrifying.

Buc-ee’s is the best! We can’t pass by them either and the pulled brisket is the way to go. We’re on the road tomorrow and will hit the one in Warner Robins GA.

I had a leveler problem one time. It turned out I had pushed the emergency break, required, but I pushed to hard and it would not do anything, up or down. The switch on the break peddle was pressed so it did not sense it working properly.

QUESTION: why do you even put down your levelers when you are on level ground? I don't. I am the old, now 84 y/o guy still Rving in our 2001 40 ft Monaco diesel, now with 140,000 miles on it. I don't use my levelers at all anymore. They work, but I have found I can generally put a 2x12 under one set of wheels and be level. Also, I put in an Amish Aire back on my fridge... so no more precise leveling even needed. I also find my 2 ft long 2 x 12's disperse my weight better than the pads you have on your levelers. Just my ways.

Get some Fork Oil and you should keep a few backup Solenoids for the Jacks they go in pairs hate to say when they go. I clean my jacks regularly with Silicon spray. Aren't RV's fun lol.

Tell me about the Door handle rod you installed. I found that pulling the door closed was a problem so I bought one of those shower suction cups handles and installed it on the door window. However, the Florida heat disintegrates the suction over a few months and I have to keep replacing it. I see that you installed some type of rod!

Good afternoon folks. Thanks for another great video. Always look forward to and enjoy yall's videos. Enjoyed your RV facts, nice addition. Hope you get your jack issues resolved. My thoughts were, if you did a reset should be good, didn't seem to work that way. Mechanically sounded like they worked ok, that's why I thought reset would work. What happened to those mid shipmen ? A whole year before they can try for retribution. Good travels guys. Stay safe and hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a blessed Christmas. God bless and ya'll have a blessed day.

Do you all always get your DEF from the stations when refilling? Or do you cary some with you and top off that way as well? I know it has a shelf life of 8-12 months I think? Thoughts on that? Thanks!
