I'm in the process of replacing the floor on my 16 foot utility trailer. I've been working on this for several days. So far it's been a fairly easy project until I found out that the last three boards were going to require a new way of thinking.

🤣😂 Old age and speed never go together. I don't want to admit the number of times I have forgotten the pin in my winch. I got the winch from my brother who had it set up to go in a receiver extension, so the winch mounts above the hitch. I have put the pin in the winch mount and forgotten the receiver pin, and vice versa. Too many times. Try to pull a log up the bank, or pull a 4 wheeler up a grade and as the system comes apart, you just want to slap your own forehead and go hide! 😂 Especially when the pin is sitting there right next to the winch on the bumper in plain sight! No harm done my friend, it all worked out in the end and no one got hurt. Love to you and Suzie and the rest of your viewers. Peace

I think my trailer has bolts to take out of the rear clamp, but if they are totally rusted, now I know a way to put them in. I would have stood on the end so if it got loose it wouldn’t have done a chin job on me, but that’s just me. Best wishes Wayne! Kevin

That's damn impressive, Wayne! I'm glad that your 'faux pax' did not result in an injury of any kind...😬I agree wholeheartedly that age and speed have no business with each other.😉 I like to think that doing things slower as we age helps us live more intentionally and in the present. 😊 Thank you also, for your positive vibe and reminders about being kind. I work with small children (preschool), and kindness is something they truly understand and practice every day! If only it were an easy practice for all those adults out there! 😊 Stay real! ✌🏼

That’s a sweet and encouraging comment, Traci. Because my wife is still working, I spend a lot of time trying to accomplish two-person projects single-handedly. Thankfully, my age hasn’t affected my ability to innovate. You have a tremendous opportunity (and responsibility) to positively influence the next generation of citizens and patriots. Kindness, through love, needs to be the foundation of our existence. Without it, we are rudderless in in our journey to find peace and happiness! Ok. Now I’m preaching to myself haha! It’s so awesome to hear from you, Traci! Stay kind!

I ran out of digits counting all the guffaw’s I have done over all my years, and I’m not done. That looked like something I did about a month ago with my trailer, did all my checks and forget to check if the pin was in. Fortunately it did not go anywhere and was not loaded… yes I looked around to see if anyone was watching… there weren’t. Great ingenuity WP! Awesome job! Take care and stay safe. Hey to Suz the Q! Have a good one. 🐶

Nice job!! Going solo isn't always the easy way....but you make it look easy!!😊 I was going to use my new knowledge from this video to impress my husband if he ever had to replace the decking on his trailer....but his doesn't have wood decking. It's all metal!!! So much for trying to look knowledgeable!! 😆😆 Great job,take care!!
@WaynePolcin

With a metal deck, hopefully, he will never have to replace it. I'm working on another video of the last two boards. One on them will have the trailer lighting and brake wiring built into it. The last board will be custom cut to fit the remaining gap. I tried to get it done today but the horses were being butt heads all day and I had to keep chasing them away from the hay wagon. I could have left them in their coral but what fun is that? There's always tomorrow! Thanks, as always, for checking in! Stay kind!

doing this solo, you could have put the board under the front c channel, jacked up the center of the board with a block and hydraulic jack, then used the loader to push the back end down to the rear c channel. Then you get off the tractor and lower the hydraulic jack. Probably easier and safer.
@WaynePolcin

Nice job. I've put a 2x4 under the board to hold it up and arch it, get the arch in it, then screw a board over the back to hold it in place, pry the 2x4 out and the deck board slides right in where it should. Have a great day.
@WaynePolcin
@WaynePolcin Жыл бұрын
I had to get about 12 inches of arch in it in order to get it to enter the channel. I heard some minor wood fiber cracking noises that made me nervous. It was nice to be able to control the amount of arching with the winch.

You have to be creative in order to work alone. This was the best solution I could come up with. If you don't have a front end loader, remote controlled winch and a bunch of rigging gear, then I guess your solution would be a lot different. Good luck with your plan! Thanks for the kind comment!

That was funny, Wayne! I do like that winch, with the pin in place of course🤓 Does the winch come recommended from you? Well thought out solution to the trailer decking puzzle!
@WaynePolcin
@WaynePolcin Жыл бұрын
We bought that winch a few years ago to pull a car up onto the trailer. There’s a receiver at the head of the trailer bed for mounting the winch there. I had to remove the receiver to install the decking. The Warn winch is rated at 8000 pounds. It was way overkill but we needed it that day and that was all the dealer had left on the shelf. I have used it for everything from pulling logs to what you saw in the video. The wireless remote is the obvious hero in the story. Keep laughing and stay kind my friend!

What wire rope are you running on your winch? Are you happy with changing from wire to rope?

The wire rope came as standard equipment with the winch. I would like to move to synthetic rope but the cost is too high.
