John and his wife accidentally found alpacas. They knew they wanted a livestock when they started venturing into their farming journey. They tried to start with sheep but were unable to purchase any, then they found alpacas. What started with 3 has turned into over 30! they are working through their 30 acres by diversifying their skills, from their alpacas to peacocks and chickens to chainsaw woodworking. It's farms like Old Redding that bridge the gap between farming and homesteading.

Very interesting. I thought of them at one time because a friend raised them and they seemed relatively easy with high returns, but decided against it. He certainly seems like he has the diversity dialed in. Too bad there was not sufficient time for the chainsaw art and what they do. I was hoping he would say what he was going to do with the emu eggs - a one egg omelet perhaps... Great interview. Well done!

They are certainly cute and unique. I loved learning more about them! I think we talked about the eggs but it was next to the chicken coops and it was very loud 😅 glad you enjoyed the tour!! Thank you!!
