I played it once..., 30+ years ago. Shot a 101. My caddies name was Smitty. Only time in my life I've ever had a caddie. (You have to have a caddie when you play Augusta whether you ride or walk, and you can ride. My Dad and his partner did, but they still had caddies carrying their bags.) Parred 2, 15 and 16. I parred 16 out of the back trap. Smitty told me to use a 6 iron when I wanted to use a 7 at a pin sitting on the front of the green. I flew over the pin into that trap. Put it out within 2 inches of the hole. Got my par on 15 by hitting a good drive, laying up, crossing the pond and 2 putting. I wanted to go for it in 2 but Smitty talked me into laying up. He handed me my 7 iron and said, "Don't hold back". (To this day, "don't hold back" is the mantra me and my regular playing partners use). I hit a great layup butI still regret not at least trying for the green in two. I mean, how many times does one get to play the greatest golf course ever built? Anyway, I always go for it now on whatever course I play with a long 2nd shot over water to get to the green in 2 on par 5. I seldom make it, but I did get an eagle on my home course a few years back just for trying and finally making it. I don't remember the par on 2, but I still have the scorecard. It was in February, misty light rain and cold as hell, but still the best round of golf in my life. Thank you Frank for having us that day. The Augusta National and The Masters are the best courses and the best tournament ever - in *ANY* event - in the world! Don't hold back!

A couple years ago, I moved to Ohio from Indiana, My dad got a job for being the golf coach at Kent State University, My dad loved golf, so every year, we watched the masters together, and it was amazing just being with him watching something he loved as much as me!❤️ I have a talent for the piano, and my dad new that, so he asked me to try to play this lovely song, I did, and he LOVED it!❤️ I now know that this is something he loves, I love this song for this particular reason, I love the song as much as my dad loves the masters. And I loved this song as much as I love my dad and how much my dad loves me.❤️ So just because it is a small TV show, there is just so much more to it! I just wanted to share this because this song brings tears to my eyes.❤️

We spent a night in Augusta last Feb. Drove around and around Augusta National. Just breathing the air and looking at the tops of the loblolly pines was fulfillment. A glimpse here and there was worth the drive. At 66, I have never missed Sunday of the Masters broadcast. Now it is Masters week, in a crazy year, perhaps a little calm can help.

Listening today on the first day of spring. Such a hopeful, beautiful tune. Up north, our golf-playing season is about to begin. Listening to this aways fills me with optimism for a good golf season. Oh.boy, The Masters Week begins next week.I used to cover this Golf Festival for the Japanese newspaper every year some 40 to fifty years ago, during that time I truly enjoyed my stay in Augusta. Back then, needless to say, Arnold Palmer , Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player and other good players were all young and strong and very attractive. I felt like dreaming watching them to play. I left U. S. in 1985 after 18 years of stay, ever since I watch this wonderful tournament on TV via satellite. Oh, I never get bored nor get sleepy when I listen to this performance of music. Thank you, ARIGATO from Japan.

If I ever had the chance, I wouldn't play the course. Here's why: Watching the tournament has become an annual tradition for me. Even a bigger viewing event than the Superbowl. I'm deeply grateful to Augusta and its sponsors for the online feed from Thur to Sat. It just keeps getting better. I dream of Augusta. The undulating fairways, the open mouthed laughter coming from the bunkers, the tempting water hazards murmuring to the best golfers in the world 'c'mon, you can get over me from there'. The anguish and joy of loss and victory. Watching year in and year out, Augusta has become a sanctuary for me. But were I to go...it would stop being that 'special' place it is in my heart. I would merely be a '10:15 tee time', and just one of the wide eyed fortunates permitted to trod its hallowed grounds. Sure I'd treasure the memory. But something would be lost. In that transmutation from dream to reality, a patina of wonder would perish. Some special essence that Augusta holds in my imagination would vanish when it becomes a 'place I went'. When I go to an epic performance, I never want to go backstage because it was the performance that made me laugh, cry, exult or despair. I think I'm at a stage in my life where I treasure my dreams as much as my memories. And I guard them now. And all of us here will be gathered alone together next Spring. At The Masters. I like that.

@@user-fy2in5wd9y I'm genuinely happy for you; what's the big cliche in use today? "You do you"? I don't know if it's an age thing on my part or not. I'm now 65. I can clearly remember going to destinations as an adult I had only been able to dream about as a kid. And it was wonderful. But today? Maybe it's the fact that my tomorrows are now fewer than my yesterdays, but now I prefer keeping Augusta under the bell jar that is my TV set. And as I do, I know full well that I'm merely experiencing a representation; mere shadows of the actual event. And for me, today, that's enough. I have no scorn nor envy of the Patrons reveling on the green, green grass of Augusta. If anything, I pray that they create memories to treasure forever.

I teared up in 1997 when Tiger won his first green jacket and did the same today when he won his 5th. Amazing story of perseverance and never giving up, even when the odds were stacked against him. He overcame DUI, divorce, infidelity, back surgeries, losing sponsors, and father time to win again. Simply one for the ages.

Well, it's springtime in the valley on Magnolia Lane It's the Augusta National and the master of the game Who'll wear that green coat on Sunday afternoon? Who'll walk the 18th fairway singing this tune? Augusta, your dogwoods and pines They play on my mind like a song Augusta, it's you that I love And it's you that I'll miss when I'm gone. It's Watson, Byron Nelson, Demaret, Player and Snead It's Amen Corner and it's Hogan's perfect swing It's Sarazen's double eagle at the 15 in '35 And the spirit of Clifford Roberts that keeps it alive Augusta, your dogwoods and pines They play on my mind like a song Augusta, it's you that I love And it's you that I miss when I'm gone. It's the legions of Arnie's Army and the Golden Bear's throngs And the wooden-shafted legend of Bobby Jones.

@@case139 yeah I heard about that. I wonder how the grass is going to look. And also is there going to be a crowd or not?

@@user-tq9jv2gj6u I believe we will be well past this pandemic by that time, although it's hard to tell as far as how big the crowd will be. Since the event is outdoors, there shouldn't be too much problem with it. The weather had better cooperate, because November's the time when leaves usually fall from trees (which are a fixture at Augusta).

I love the scaping of Augusta. Theirs really no Golf course quite like it. Every championship course has it’s a ray of scaping that makes unique beauty. From a Lawncare stand point it’s the pinnacle of landscaping at its finest.
