1. Family photo in each bag with emergency contact info on back, laminate, or put in a ziplock. 2. Headlamps to keep your hands free, especially using restroom. 3. Figet type items for those who need stimulation or stress release. 3. Face masks could be smoke, dust, chemicals or if you have to evacuate to shelter. 4. Hand sanitizer, wipes and Hannah don't forget some travel makeup wipes for your beautiful skin). 5. Deodorant, travel tooth brush & paste or Wisps - I hate unclean teeth. 6. Weather proof post it notes & sharpie in case you need to leave notes for other family members. 7. Make an emergency plan, contact info, place to meet as older kids are out or working. Have at least 2 meeting places and also a out of state contact like Ariana - everyone can check in with her if separated. Hope this helps. Love your family and all the fun you guys have & the joy you bring others ❤

As a Disaster Services volunteer these are thing that people don’t always think about when building their kits. I recommend an ID for each family member with proof of address, even expired is still good. Also, if anyone is on any prescription medications include that or a least a current prescription. You should also include some cash( about $200 per person) because if you have to evacuate you might need to go somewhere that can’t take credit cards or e cards. I add around $20 every pay day to my bag. You can add age related non electronic entertainment to each kids bag. You also need to set up a meeting place near your home and away from home, especially now that you have so many kids who drive and are away from home. You might want get with all your kids and practice evacuation and meeting. Please suggest the kits for your adults kids also.

Also as disaster prep is a copy of important documents eg insurance, digitise and store remotely photo albums. I know in our floods so many people lost photos and important documents as they had no time to find physical versions to take.

Muzzles for dogs can come in handy sometimes. If you have to go into a shelter environment that might be stressful for your dog, it allows more security. I do prefer the basket style muzzles. But, I always recommend training your dog to be able to wear one. Scenario (because I absolutely loved this about your video): a dog can sometimes lash out if they're in pain. If they get hurt and need to be carried or taken to a vet, anytime, not just in a survival situation, a muzzle could be useful. Love you guys and Hannah, you always brighten my day!
@daniellecaruso9483

Yes! Muzzles are not bad! What if your dog got hurt and you needed to tend to a wound? In pain the dog would certainly not like you messing with it and even the best dog may lash out in these cases. Also great for keeping a dog from being able to eat random stuff it finds (trash or dead animals)

I've never muzzle trained my dogs and really didn't think of reasons why they should be muzzle trained. Thanks for pointing out reasons why they should be.

Definitely make a bag or multiple bags for the dogs as well. Also test everything so everyone knows how to use the things. Don't leave batteries in the devices. Have a plan on where to meet up in case you get separated. Family photos and information is also key for your bags so that if say your little kids get separated from you who ever finds them can hopefully help them get back to you

If you’re in a place where life jackets are needed don’t forget to get life jackets or flotation methods for your pets as well in case of emergency such as floods. Things such as collapsing bowls, light up collars and a leash could also be useful to have in a bag. Many human medicine is not safe for dogs so finding out which they can have in case of an injury may also be helpful.

Muzzles are an amazing tool. It doesn't matter how friendly your dog is, it can become fearful during a stressful situation or when hurt and may snap. Also, whoever said "if you need to be quiet" should do some research on how muzzles work.

Hey Hannah, i loved your emergency stories/ imaginations. The tampons are really handy. We were on a long trainride when my cousin had a severe nosebleed. We didn't have cottonwool with us to put in her nose to stop the bleeding. So we took a tampon apart (compressed cotton wool) and put that in her nose to stop the bleeding. It worked really well. Love from Holland.

For the pups, make sure you try the socks before hand because a LOT of dogs don’t like them. And muzzle comment. We have a dog who when stressed, will become aggressive. If he’s scared or protecting his territory, he can be aggressive. You’d never know, but we muzzle him to protect HIM. If he’s stressed, the muzzle becomes a safe space for him to show teeth, growl and not become a target of scared individuals.

The applicator free OB tampons are great for nosebleeds. Nail clippers are a must. Zip ties are always handy. The glue sticks that go into glue guns and a regular bic lighter together can repair many things. Solar charging power banks are very useful. Each person having emergency info in a small notebook could be lifesaving. (Contact info, medical info, etc). I do more EDC (everyday carry) bags and kits myself but this is such a good idea for everybody to be prepared in life. 😎

I love the kits! A couple things i would add is solar power banks, a couple more big tarps bc you all have a large family & those can create waterproof shelter, block sun rays, block wind. Maybe a small compact life vest for Aurora and Arwin incase you have to travel across water & a few cold packs that you just pop the thing inside and it gets really cold just in case someone got to over heated in AZ or for an injury. Just a few things i thought might be a good idea. Love love love the survivor bags! ❤️

First aid kits & Evacuation plans for any situation. In our house we are fully prepped. Pandemics, earthquakes, tsunami's if going to the beach, cyclones. In Aotearoa we had a cyclone. It's going to take years to sort out our infrastructure everywhere in NZ. Roads, water supplies, electricity, coastal erosion... A really good idea is, teach the kids to read Evacuation plans when going in to buildings. Regular fire drills a must too. It's not if it happens, it's when! When anyone visits, they all learn the Evacuation plan. Great post guys.👍 ...Awareness & preparation is the key!😁 Love guys. 🙏❤

That's great but every single one of your kids should learn how to actually use those things, otherwise if in the future for some reason they need to know how to use it, they will not know how to, which is pointless. They should learn basic things like how to make fire, how to cook the food, purify water, pitch a tent, and so on.

I have a few suggestions you might consider to add... First, I suggest a few different size of ace bandages, in the event of a fall of any kind. Next is having headlight style flashlight because who wants to go out for the bathroom and have to squat and wipe when holding a hand held light, also good for night walking. And the next thing is a (probably only need one for the whole family) solar power charger for your phone. Also you might want to have some reflective or glow in the dark tape on the backpack so that you can find it easily in the dark and it will be easy to see each other in the dark. The very last thing is probably not necessary for you in Arizona but for those of us who live in freezing cold temperatures is hand and foot warmers. Try getting some glow in the dark puff paint for writing names on the backpack. Great plan for emergency, thanks for sharing this.

One of those flashlights you shake back and forth so you’re not relying on batteries or sun. Bear spray it’s works well to keep all unwanted things away. Medications and if you can get a prescription of antibiotics to put in your kit I’d absolutely recommend it. Change of clothes especially socks. A jar of Vaseline. That works for hundreds of things. Also a personal locator beacon. At least 1. I know they are super expensive but trust me it’s worth it. Water purification straws are much better than tablets.

Yes!! Notepads are absolute must. Pocket size ones weigh almost nothing and there you have the means to document anything that may need to be documented along the way - also paper makes a great emergency fire starter. I would probably go for pencils rather than pens or markers, as markers can dry up or clog. A graphite pencil only needs to be sharpened when blunt, which you can do on a rock if necessary!

Something else to add might be finger nail clippers, tweezers, rubber bands, and a couple folded garbage bags per back pack that can be used for a variety of things like ground cover for sitting or sleeping (cutting the side seems makes them twice as large), wear for rain cover, added heat retention, to store dirty clothes, etc . . . 👍

Hannah said the water was hard to drink. Pour it in your portable cup. Less likely to spill or lose some or most of your water. Also pack the powder liquid IV hydration packets to add to your water as it takes the one bottle of plain water and will give you the equivalent of having drank 3 bottles of water.

Muzzle is good to keep too, because some shelters and transport options require that dogs either be crated or muzzled. In addition if a dog gets hurt paired with a crazy stressful situation, or if you have to administer medical treatment on an injured dog they could bite just from the pain. It’s always good to have with large dogs.

The muzzling a coyote part gave me a chuckle...my husband said good luck getting a muzzle on a wild coyote. The green thing you had no idea what it was for is actually a "pill shover" as I call them...meaning if any of the dogs are on a pill form antibiotic you use that to shove the pill down their throat.

Make sure to add an outfit, make sure you have some cash to use. Just in case electric is out then you’ll need the cash for stuff. For family your size probably about a thousand to start with. That would be for gas, hotel and food or meds . Then add those water flavor squirt bottle just in case someone can’t drink plain water. Parents make sure you pack some ear plugs because you might need them if kids get wild e specially if you’re driving so you can think clear. Have a written plan and meet up place outside in each backpack so if they forget they can pull it out or in case a little one gets lost they can get someone to help them and to know exactly where to take them. Plus add phone numbers to that paper.

I think, you recently talked about it on this channel and on Beyond Crazy. It is an important topic though and good to be prepared. My suggestion is, to show each item and read together the instructions. Then demonstrate how to apply it, if possible. Otherwise it will be panic or chaos in case of emergency and survival. Also, maybe name coaches for small groupes. Lots of succes, Nature and Life can be very capricious. But with common sense we can survive. Take good care.

Lets see, different things to add to a kit. I've watched a few survival shows out there and pretty much all I can think of that is missing is something to start a fire. I'd recommend some sort of tinder, toilet paper helps but adding in another source specifically for fire building would benefit, and some sort of way to start that fire like a lighter or magnifying glass. If you watch the show I recommended in previous comment, they do show you how to start a fire with a stick and a shoe string. I recommend extra paracord. What you have is okay enough, but I'd have extra. The amount of uses the paracord is used for. It can hold SO much weight you can use it to make a shelter and it will hold, even your weight! And so much more. That show, again, that I recommended will show you so many different ways, it's amazing.

I would get sling carriers for your 2 smaller dogs. You would be able to carry them in front while still wearing your back pack. The muzzles may be required if you take your dog into a shelter. You should have a copy of their vaccine records in your back pack as well. Take care! Edit: You should make sure to have collars and ID tags for the dogs as well.

My main things are, have something to stop bleeding. Have anti diarrhea, and have electrolytes. Even just having those three things stocked up outs someone at much higher odds. Water, water purification, and food. Antibiotics. Baby wipes, toilet paper, paper towels. Sanitizers, and natural based soaps so you can bath in waterways. Fire starters for older people, signaling devices, and medical kits.

Could set an a note on your calendar a month before the snacks expire. Then kids can eat them up and you replace with new ones.

As somebody who has worked with dogs for many years keep the muzzles if your dog gets hurt you don't know if they're gonna bite or not Or just get very snappy at you Muzzles are a part of my emergency kit and are kept in my vehicles in case of emergency Also look at getting slip leads there light and nice to have if a leash gets broken

Pack a little bottle of Siracha for flavors. Boycotts do this. Wool socks or hat for cold nights in AZ. Waterproof matches or a lighter
