Create a Beveled Gold Logo Using Illustrator's 3D Tools. It's easy to give your logos, type and graphics a 3D look using the Extrude and Bevel Tools in Adobe Illustrator. Here is another longer tutorial explaining how to go about just that, plus learn how to give it a gold, silver, copper and any other metallic-looking surface. There are metal gradients built in to the Illustrator Swatches which makes it even easier.

You gave an awesome tutorial! Very explanative and you demonstrated every move you made both hands on and verbally. The big plus was you didn't go too fast! In the Gradient Pallet, click on the little arrow by the box below the word "Gradient" and reset the gradient to "White, Black". Thank you for watching, and for the comment!

Love this tutorial and I do understand it, but is there any way you could do this with a font letter? I'm having issues with it lol. It doesn't want to expand appearance for me

You have to outline the font first by going to Type > Create Outlines before you can expand it. Hope that helps!

It's okay, you're probably applying the effect to the outline only. Swap your fill for your stroke in the tool bar (the little curved arrow over the 2 squares).

2:10 not working. I can only delete the whole image, or one line (a path).

Make sure to click off your selection first , then click on only the white area and hit delete. If you are doing this on artwork that does not have a clearly defined white background you may need to do a little more selective work.
