In this video, I will show you a step-by-step guide how to create a Dynamic Search box to find anything within your Database in Excel.
Microsoft Excel is so versatile for analysing Data and it has a lot of functions that can help you stay productive at your workplace or business.
But, how do you search for Data within thousands of rows in one second?
In this video, I will show you how to stop the endless scrolling across columns and down the rows in Excel by creating a dynamic Search box that displays data as you type.

Thank you Ruth. I have used your tutorial for my search function. not sure how to secure the search sheet that the formula is not tamered with and so too for the columns i have of hyperlinks. could you advise?

Thank you so much, Guido 🙏 To protect your search sheet, or lock certain cells from unauthorized access, you can click on Review tab, check protect group and follow the guide from the dialog box. @@ruthkingsley1 Thank you for that tutorial. Unfortunately this is not going to help me completely. I will be setting the selections to allow the user to access, but locking the worksheet while allowing access to hyperlinks is not that easy. click once and you activate the hyperlink double click and you enter the hyperlink. this is where the fail is. The answer i believe is by VBA code where you limit the access to any hyperlink to one click only then you need to deactivate the hyperlink and then protect that cell. I am working on this theory.

Hello Daniel, The FILTER function is not available for older versions of Excel. Microsoft says it is only available for Microsoft 365 and Excel 2021 Users. You can upgrade your Excel version to use the function plus other newer Excel functions

Thank you Kurt. If you're using the new version of Excel, the new functions will be available for you to use. I don't think they can be added from any add-ins.

Hello Syed, I used Excel 2021 for this video. The function is also available for Microsoft 365. Older versions of Excel do not have this function. So maybe you can upgrade to the latest version to use it.

Hello Tharaka, I used Excel 2021 for this video. The function is also available for Microsoft 365. Older versions of Excel do not have this function. So maybe you can upgrade to the latest version to use it.

Hello Ahmed, That was a slight error. It's an 'absolute reference' I meant that was why I added the Dollar sign to C2.

Hello Mohamed, The FILTER function is not available for older versions of Excel. Microsoft says it is only available for Microsoft 365 and Excel 2021 Users. That could be one of the reasons for that error. You can upgrade your Excel version to use the function plus other newer Excel functions But if you're using the newer versions of Excel, let me know so I can help look into it.

Hello Mohamed, I think it's just better to upgrade your Excel version or you can try out Microsoft 365, they usually have a free trial for few days. For now, I don't think any function will give the exact and entire functionality of FILTER function.
