In this video I show how I made my Jack-o'-lantern holder out of rebar. This is a fairly simple project if you are a beginner and a very simple project if you know how to weld. Halloween 2023 is coming up quick, so start making all your favorite spooky Halloween decor!!!!

Thanks! You can get one for 99 at harbor freight. My friend is a welder and he said most of the problem is me but he also said it’s a trash welder 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Interesting very interesting 🤔 your welding is certainly whole lot better than mine would be. Never done it but would love to be able to. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

Thanks! I have a lot of junk laying around so it makes it easy to try stuff without taking a loss. After I made this I had a thought that a bunch of large nuts down the spine would look like vertebrae. And then I was like, if the ribs were welded to the bolts, the ribs could spin and then I was like, how could I use that to my advantage and then I was like, I’m gonna go do something completely unrelated. Hahaha! Sorry… this has nothing to do with your comment. Grab a cheap welder and give it a try!

A few tips: -Set the wire speed low, like 2 or 3. Go slowly back and forth over the weld (Search "welding patterns" on here). Can't tell from the montage, but it looks like at least some of your welds are just tacks. Those won't hold up if anyone leans on it because you don't spend enough time to get good heat penetration to completely join the metal. (It's like too short a courtship before rushing into marriage, to borrow from Michael Scott's definition of wedding/welding.) -U-bolts and/or hose clamps are a good idea for joining "modular" sections (e.g., joining the lower half staked into the ground to the torso), especially if you're going to dress it up with creepy cloth or whatever that will disguise where you patched things together. -Look at getting a compact metal bender. It's better for flat stock and smooth rods than rebar, but that's great for getting more precise bends, especially if you need a really tight one. I found a bender from Vevor that mounts to a workbench rather than the Harbor Freight version built onto a stand that I didn't have room for. -A chop saw would be a good investment too. Soooo much faster and more precise than a grinder, especially for pipe, flat stock, tubing, etc. where the angle matters. I love checking out what you're up to, what new skills you're adding, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one whose significant other won't get off the phone for anything. Keep up the great work, especially the Halloween projects!

This is awesome! Thank you for all the tips! Definitely planning on working my welding over the winter. I think I’ve always avoided it because I can find free wood but finding free metal to Mars’s around with is not as easy.
