"Belts take up a ton of space". Suggests using vaults, which take up even more space...
@PIXIN_G4 ай бұрын
Objection! I play factorio
@arieltroncoso90884 ай бұрын
Yes but also no - the space used up by belts scales poorly; even in simple contraptions you end up using just as many blocks as a small item vault with less holding capability, and a lot of those blocks are linearly placed. Not to mention the blocks used to power them. It'd be like saying that a tied-up bundle of string takes more space than the unlooped version of it, at minimum.
@avationmusic2 ай бұрын
If you put two item vaults on either side of a contraption, the game views the vaults as connected. Meaning you only need two vaults, one input and one output. Far less space than belts

The belts is essentially made for crafting stuff and mass fanning Having vaults on a moving contraption makes transporting much easier
@ZeorGaming5 ай бұрын
Mass fanning is actually easier without belts :P Fans will still smelt/cook/haunt/wash items just floating on the ground, so you can have fans from every direction point to one block with a limitless number of items floating in it. Have a filtered funnel pick them up and you have a mighty fast setup
@somo42274 ай бұрын
they are litterary better cogwheels for wiring....
@petermatis60839 ай бұрын
You can move stuff upwards with funnels. If you put an out going funnel on top of a storage unit, items will be shot out of it upwards a short distance. Then place an intake funnel on another storage unit so that the funnel is in the path of the flying object. It can be oriented on the sides or bottom of the storage. And as long as the intake is close enough it will always collect the flying item. I've only made a system like that with the output and intake directly on each other. storage = S; funnel = f S f

Minecart contraptions instantly transfer as well and I believe it would be more cost efficient when transferring items unless you need a vault for the many access points like the three step poker. Perfect for moving items from one room to another as long as the minecart is blocked in and you keep the cart assembler in place with redstone power, and it can even be hidden in walls as long as you at least have the interfaces on both ends. You might need a barrel on the contraption to make it transfer, but should work as long as the stationary interfaces have directional input and output ie chute on top or bottom
