Finally an ableton channel that focuses on creative approaches and experimentation rather than teaching everyone how to make the same generic thing over and over. You and Ned Rush are the best. Glad I found you

This is actually the way i’ve been working with live for the past couple of years, but in fact it took more time to get here than i was initially expecting. 😅 Still there’s always new things we find while playing and combining different midi device techniques, it’s kind like of a journey. In my setup for each midi tracks i have 2 midi chains. Both have the same midi device structure (chord-arp-random-velocity-pitch-“a max for live device to apply probability filter of incoming midi notes”-scale) but the second chain has a m4l polyrthmic device to generate notes as the first device of the chain. So this way i can combine notes that exist in a midi clip with notes that are generated on a separate chain. Since both chains have the max for live device to filter the notes, It’s called “chance” btw. Using two knobs i can dial different probabilities and combined them in a random but controlled way, but this is just the top of the iceberg :) My advice for people that might be struggling with how to build and structure settings and programs for different presets/songs in a setup like this: Clyphx Pro is your friend. Great video man! Subscribed! 🙌

Interesting thing is that the " heavy lifting " really applies how you are the instance filter of an machine output. As a musician, I spent lots of use a doing the "heavy lifting" but certainly serendipity awaits with those little trinkets. Thanks for an excellent video mate!

You don't have to remove the plugin into a separate midi track away from the sequencers/generators to record the midi into a separate track. You can save some time by just making one new midi channel and taking the midi from the channel you're already using with the plugin there. No need to make 3 different midi tracks to record midi.

Very good stuff. Thank you for this. But the hard attack gives me PTSD of being in Japan trying to get a phone for 2 hours and the instrumental music playing "soothing" hard-attack chimes for the entirety. I got a Samsung Galaxy S5 that had a DoCoMo sheep wandering over the screen asking if I wanted help. This was a feature that most people were too polite to complain about being utter bullshit that everyone immediately removed.

You should really upload these to orient to landscape view on fullscreen. Can't see any text on the DAW whatsoever viewing this on a phone. If I can see what the cursor is doing, I can watch these any time and remember the flow, as opposed to having to watch the video in segments while working on the computer, or even watch it on my phone without having to go back and forth between windows every time the visual is unclear. Great videos, but I can't get anything out of them as often as I'd like to.
